I just the other day saw a video... Sid, AKA vicious274 is now sponsored by berlinwood? WTF??? I saw a video, i can do almost every single trick he did, with a shit ton more style too. They definitely did it just for the business, considering how many views he gets. It just really tickles my pickle when stuff like this happens...

Companies want somebody who can rep their company, so they sponsor people who are GOOD, so it shows their company is legitimate. PPLUS, they deserve the sponsorship. In this case it was just because sid will bring them alot of business, whereas there are soooo many good FBers out there who are better, and deserve it more.

But won't bring as many customers

does berlinwood really need to show how "legit" they are? sid is a great addition. he reps more than anyone else by far.

the most rad skater ever could be a jerk in real life - and people who meet him / asociate them with the company will have a bad taste for it if buddy is a jerk - even if he is the best skater in the world.

promotion and comrodary and representation are all part of being sponsored
gathering and interacting with other members of the scene - sharing ideas and laughs together
is how a sport can grow and blossom.

I kinda agree with both sides mostly because at the skill level he is now I dont think he should be on the team BUT from the last time i watched his videos he got a ton better. Plus if he is a nice guy why not so although there my be better choices from a tricks/style perspective it still seems fine

People get sponsored for either being amazing at fingerboarding, being amazing people who do a ton for fingerboarding, or both.

The BRR/BW guys are friends of Sids, and that'll be what it is -they like his contribution to the scene.

He deserves it more than some snotty little kid coming here and bitching about someone getting sponsored. Sid seems a really nice person, and knowing the BRR guys, and Timo from BW, pretty well, I'd say they're happy to support people like that.

Clearly it was because he gets a lot of views on his review videos. Kids want a new fingerboard, type in "fingerboard review" on youtube, and there he is.

To be honest, I cannot stand the way he reviews. I really don't know why he got so popular doing them.

But ya, it's obvious that his fingerboarding skills didnt get him sponsored.....which is wrong. There are plenty of people who have taken more time learning, that do not have companies mailing them free stuff all the time.

Berlinwood knows what they're doing though...

^ I'd have to agree. 70% of fingerboarders are better than Sid. But, he does rep hard. But the thing is... What does he rep? 4corner, prowood, china companies, etc.

Which is actually pretty retarded. But I do think Berlinwood did it for business and company promotion but it kind of makes me and everyone else who supports Berlinwood stray away. TBH I never liked BW in the first place.

So it's like they're loosing good customers but gaining at the same time. But who even know's that. Who want's to buy a deck for $45 when you can buy one for 1/3 the price that is probably more better.

Plus bw is still legit supports the scene,but at the end of the day they are a buisness and must advertise and make money and he will be a good one for that, but I bet he doesnt review anymore china companies now that he is with bw, props to him even though he bores me.
