its time for me to build some plaza type things for my skatepark - as summer camp is soon i want to have 2 or 3 fingerboard tables setup with some scale obsticles that we have at my skatepark - only down sized to fit fingerboards.

figuring out scale would go something like ... our finger board decks measure 100mm long = and a real skateboard measures 32 inches long...

im wondering if that calculation will end up building some good obsticles to be used ? or will it seem funny because generaly we fingerboard on things that are much smaller than acurate scale to our boards ? like how tech deck obsticles are all rediculusly small compaired to how big a tech deck is.... hmmmmm.

building in real scale would mean that 8 foot would be acurate to 300mm in a fingerboard ramp.

wich basicly works out to building a real skateboard ramp 8 foot wide - for a fingerboard would be 11.75 inches wide.

and a 4 foot tall mini ramp for a real skateboard would be 5.8 inches tall = does that seeem correct

basically the scale of ramps that people use is weird and often way different to skateboarding. quarterpipes want to be 15cm high for a large one and maybe 6-8 for a smaller one. 30cm run up is needed for most obstacles, and any grind box/rail/etc wants to be anywhere from 4-7cm high. manny pads can be 3cm high.

just experiment in google sketchup and see what looks best - or post a picture of the park you want a replica of and maybe someone can fingerboard scale it for you happy

o this is a good pic showing the grass installed finaly. - the grass is 2ft wide on the left and 4 ft wide on the right - so its a strange shaped obsticle gap. kind of realistic to a sidewalk cutout for cars to drive up was my goal making it like that.

I always use the scale 1:8

but if something works better when its smaller just change it.
