For around 20$, you can buy marble, granite, etc tiles to build yourself stairsets and boxes. check this out.

Thats not bad, thought of doing the same. You can get tiles 12x12 that are granite from Lowes for about .99 a piece. I made this just recently for about $4 since the individual natural stones cost about .88 a piece.
When you turn it upside down it feels like a rigid snooke, when right side up it's a great smooth ledge and manny pad that won't tip over!
