Going Downhill . Empty
PostSubject: Going Downhill .   Going Downhill . EmptySun Aug 11, 2013 10:36 pm

In all my years of fingerboarding I honestly think fingerboarding is going downhill . Lately I've been on YouTube & I watch really good videos from unannounced people . Good vibes & good fingerboarding . & I see hateful comments on it like 'you suck so much you should quit.' & the person fingerboarding is just doing it for fun. Then I see people who fingerboard but aren't very good and they are making sponsor me videos for berlinwood or flatfacefingerboards . And then hateful comments as well. I think people don't get recognized for fingerboarding unless they have Berlinwood, Brts, oaks or winkles & BRR ramps . I think it's pathetic & I can see fingerboarding going downhill because of the hate and how much it costs . That's why I haven't been doing it that much. It's ridicouless . This is all my opinion so don't start shit .

There's going to be hate in any hobby and there will always be people who think that they're better than others. Having a nice camera and set up will only get you so far. I personally don't think fingerboarding is going downhill at all to be honest. I think that you're just focusing on all the negativity man. Join some contests and talk to people who share the same views on fingerboarding as you and I'm sure you'll see the difference.

Its all about the vibe you bring to the table, and obviously ignoring dumb comments. If you like finferboarding, you do it for yourself and to hell with all the negative comments. As far as not being noticed without the best equipment money can buy, I also believe that's false. Homies on this site make some of the gnarliest decks out there, and ive seen multiple amazing videos with homemade ramps. I guess it come down to who you are trying to get noticed by, so why focus on negative shit when you could just be havin fun.

Just my opinion, no hate here. very happy
In the words of Mike Schneider himself...
"If you love fingerboarding and have fun doing it, sponserships will come"

Just some insight.

lol Mikkel

But on subject, I feel fingerboarding is at an all time high now, and this is coming from someone who's been around for a bit. When I started, meetups were unheard of, decks were all still homemade out of shitty wood and there were only a handful of truly good fingerboarders out there who were well known.

Look at fingerboarding now and how much it has progressed even in the last 2-3 years. I just returned from a 2 and a half year hiatus, and I'm shocked at how much the scene has progressed. Sure, there are some things I disagree with (FUCKING EXPENSIVE SHIT), but hey, who cares? I lover the fingerboarding scene now, so many cool people and so many different styles out there. It's a shit ton different from when I first discovered the fingerboarding scene.

Case closed. Poundcake.

I've been in the scene for around 4 years now, fingerboarding for 5ish, but in terms of the UK scene it's definitely constantly growing! At UKR1 in 2009, 10 people showed up. That was around the time that this forum started up, and now this place has 2300 members, there's been at least 13 official events, along with many other gatherings/meetups. We've also seen some of the most renowned brands in fingerboarding coming from the UK, such as Blosom/Fingersized.

The entire scene as a whole is just ever increasing, there's always new companies worth supporting, various countries are building their scenes rapidly just as the UK is, it's awesome.

it's only going downhill if you focus on only negatives, but if you just have fun truely enjoying fingerboarding and ignore all the bad stuff it's better than ever happy

the scene is only as strong as the perspective your looking at it from

In my opinion UK goes to the top 3 scene countries, if you can say so, along with Germany and probably USA

iv been fingerboarding since I was 6 an honestly iv seen so many people come an go but no one stuck to it, accept me very happy

that's why I love this forum, so much fingerboarding discussion and reviews its great, but I would deffently like to get out to a comp sometime but its hard to do that over here in Canada since people that do fingerboard live like 4 - 5 hours from me sad
