hey guys, so i have messed around with fl studio making basic beats and i really want to start producing legit full beats for songs. i was thinking about buying just a midi fighter spectra to start with and use ethier traktor or flstudio, but if there is anyone experianced here that wants to tell em what i should buy (a midi keyboard or a midi fighter) that would be awsome very happy. thanks

keep fl studio you font need to start using traktor its a better DJ program than producing softwear. what you need to do if you want to produce is get a good interface, a pair of krk rokit 5s, and a Midi keyboard, i prefer a keyboard its better for doing chord progression and such. if you have any questions let me know.

you dont need to buy loads of new flashy equipment to be good.

it seems you have the basics down if you are using flstudio.

its not entirely necessary to buy a midi controller/keyboard...you can get away with using just the mouse....but keyboards are obviously more hands on and vibey.

im guessing your into hiphop types beats...for this sort of production id go with an MPC. the new renaissance one is the bomb. anyone who is anyone in hiphop uses an MPC.

if you want to get your tracks to a decent mastered stage you will need some half decent monitors...(and im not talking headphones).

on the lower end of the budget side id suggest samson rubicon r6s. they are discontinued, but you can get them cheap. you wont get better active monitoring than those for the money.

i wouldn't suggest the KRK rockit 5s. they are not bad monitors for media work, but for mixdowns no...having said that, the old gen KRKs were really good, but i dont rate the newer stuff....plenty of other monitors out their that exceed them for the money.

learn your weapon of choice b4 spending loads of money..whether that be software/plug ins, or hardware options like the MPC....then from their get a midi keyboard and monitors. (if your serious).

you might like other programs more though, as their is alot of choice...flstudio is a toy really. (although one that can get results). serious producers use protools/logic/cubase....and mastering those platforms takes years.

goodluck with it.

the MPC has all the feel/swing/groove. its the best. the way you can quickly produce sample based beats on it is inspiring.

have a look on youtube of some of the MPC battles and you will see what it does.

i cant comment on the midi fighter as ive not heard/come across it.

maybe what you need is just a cheap midi keyboard for use with your software?
