so im at my local skatepark, and there's a fingerboard contest today!!! I found that out when I got here, luckily I have my setup with me (they have a fb park). So I'll tell you the results later! Sorry for shit grammar and spelling, I'm using my ipod

Here's the story. Sorry my earlier post was brief, I was skateboarding and just using my ipod to post.

So today, I decided to go the indoor skatepark that's about 20 minutes away from my place. When I was signing in, I found out there was a fingerboard contest today. It was $10 entry, so I joined. There's a fingerboard park at my skatepark, so that's what the contest was on. Luckily, I had my LowPro and my No Comply with me.

There were two kids fingerboarding on the park when I got there, and one of them was in the competition too. I played a game of skate against him, and he beat me (I got him to SKAT, so it was close).

About an hour after I got there was the contest. There were 2 others besides me that signed up- the kid I played SKATE against, and a kid who wanted prizes so he borrowed another kids deck and entered.

This is how the contest went: Everybody got three 30 second runs, and then the judge(s) gave each scores. The average of those scores was your overall score.

None of us did that great. The third kid did absolutely terrible, but since there were only three people entered, he was guaranteed a prize. I didn't land much- I was under pressure, and my fingers were cold because it was freezing in the skatepark.

In the end, I came in second. The kid who I played SKATE against won. My overall score was a 5.something. The kid who won had a 6.something. It was all in good fun, though. I got a trophy and a free skateboard deck (this one: http://vanswarpedtour.cinderblock.com/featured-home-page/vans-warped-tour-2010-hooligan-skate-deck.html). First place got a trophy and two decks, and third place got a trophy and a deck.

Overall, it was really cool to fingerboard with other people. I picked up a set of Substance Jade's in a trade.

Contest details: It wasn't sponsored by any fingerboard companies or anything, it was just put on by the skatepark. I think my friend Max organized it. He showed up half way through, and he was supposed to be a judge. After the comp, I fingerboarded with him and a few other fingerboarders that were there. Joel Hartnett used to live near me, by the way. Max and all the other fingerboarders there knew him. Apparently he's coming for a visit soon.

So it was awesome, I got a deck for $10 haha. And it's cool to have a trophy with "Fingerboard Champ" on it.

I don't have any pics, but I can describe it. I'll take some next time I go.

On one side, theres this bank (sortof like a box 5, but without the ledge). That's on top a stair set, I think it's a five flat five. Theres a BRR down rail on the stairset. After the stairs, there's a little bit of flat. Then there's a euro gap, with a quarter on top. The quarter leads over to the other side, and goes into a halfpipe. The halfpipe has a spine, and goes into a wall ramp with pool coping. Then there's flat, with about a 1 inch high granite ledge going across. After the flat, there's a little ramp/bank, with a ledge on top of it.

Overall, it's a pretty fun park. The bank on top of the stairset really gets in the way, though.
