| Granite tiles work really good and they're reasonably cheap, you can make any flat surface super fingerboardable.
I would suggest not getting Ceramic tiles because they feel cheaper and (i think) they sound really bad when fingerboarding on them. |

| Granite/Marble, These shouldn't be too much from a DIY store. (£3-£7).
Some wooden table you can find around your house, just be sure to put something over it, because it'll but dents on the table, so don't do it on the dining room table. |

Really? Granite tiles are that cheap? I've been thinking about buying a few to cover the "fingerboarding part of my desk". I'll have to look into to it now. |

| For some reason I thought this was smoothest O.o
But yeah, wood, natural or naturally finished though, ply for example, not laminated mdf, I find that most wheels give their desired effect on wood, like oaks don't squeak on some surfaces, but squeak best on wood imo. |
