I was just wondering what people's views are on style.

Do you try and replicate your favourite fingerboarder's style?
Do you notice your style evolving gradually? If so how?

Just talk about style!

As with everything, i believe you have to be influenced by the past to progress into the future. I used to watch a lot of old riders to get inspiration, and still do. I'm not at all interested in who can do insane flips to grinds with another mad trick out, i honestly prefer a simple crooked grind, and i think that's where my style personally is going.
I'd like to think that style is a very slow process, replicating someone is a great way to start, but not to finish. Style is ultimately where the rider is smooth, much like clockwork. It's all about being comfortable in your own skin.

hey Will

hmmm...personally i would never try and replicate someones style...i think to replicate somebody else you have to be a stylista yourself....as if your not at a certain level your never going to impersonate someones style well.

i think it does come with age/practice though. the more you do, the more stylish you get.

some people just have it and others dont though. the more you try to think about something like style, then try to replicate it, the more forced it looks...(like trying too hard i guess)

sketch can be stylish though....if pulled with finesse...so i keep telling myself.

I dont focus on attaining anyones particular style. I think i have my own unique style, as does everyone, and I just fb.
I do however do tricks inspired by certain professional Skateboarders. whenever im bored ill watch a video of P-Rod and try to do some of the more advanced tricks he does. When im feeling adventerous, ill head over to Mike Mo's channel lol

Rodney Mullen is a major influence on my fingerboarding. Despite this, skateboarding and fingerboarding have their differences so my fingerboarding is similar yet very different. I have not tried to mimic any fingerboarder's style and have always tried to push and develop my own.

I don't try to copy peoples style because I'm myself not anybody else.
Be original don't copy people.

My style has a more old school pure form to it. I like the techy flip trick stuff but just as Thom said, doing a simple grind with a flip out gets me going...

hahaha that really made me lol but i mostly agree with Tom that its not bad to attempt to have a style similar to one of your favorites but eventually change that to where its your own

Every trick I do I see it like a real skateboard trick so I try to be realistic. I do my tricks like I would like to see them with a skateboard.

Me? Style? Your kidding right? aha

I guess I don't really have much of a style, if anything though, I aim for nice catches and clean landings.
