| My mom will not accept the fact that I'm atheist. She is forcing me to go to religion classes and to learn about god.
I've had it with this, seriously. The only thing that I ever get out of her is, 'You're fourteen, you don't know what you believe!"
She says that it will make me a better person and that I need to believe in god.
Guys, what the fuck do I do?
I can't take this anymore, so someone please help me. |

| Maybe try being open minded? Idk it could change your opinion (I doubt it will). It just seems like you're going to have to do it from the look of it. |

| Ryan, she is the one that needs to be open minded. She won't sit down and reason with me, because she's too ignorant and fearful of this shithead named God.
I've been doing this religion thing for over 8 years. I think I've been open minded enough for her.

I'm not saying that you're in the wrong man. I was also saying that maybe when you go in with a bad attitude that it's just going to suck even more. |

| Sure she has, I won't deny that. But why does she need to dictate my beliefs(nonbeliefs)? I do good in school, I listen to her, and I'm polite and appreciative. But now that she knows I don't believe in god, I'm a fucking demon in her eyes. |

Not at all man. I'm just saying that if I were in your shoes I'd just do it. If she isn't going to listen why not make the most of it? Maybe make some friends there or something if you haven't. Look at it this way, If you want to be more educated on topics you need to hear both sides right? So even if you don't agree with what they're telling you you can atleast walk out with more knowledge. EDIT: I realize this is not what you wanted to hear but it's just my two cents. If you can't get out of it just make the most of it.

| It really bums me that stuff like this happens. People go on about freedom of speech and stuff like that but I've heard soo many stories of soo many people forced against their will into religion because their parents think it's 'right'.
worst example - I used to work in a drop in centre for adults with learning disabilities, there was this guy who was like 40 who was a jehovas witness simply because his family were and he was stuck with that, obviously he was unable to really make his own mind up about it. When you asked him to explain what he believed he couldn't tell you - and worst of all when his family found out he'd been drinking alcohol one time they kicked him out the family and religion for like 2 years, leaving him totally alone. The guy had a mild mental disorder and THAT'S the right thing to do according to their religion?
I know that's an extreme example but fuck shit like this.
Although, until you're old enough to do what you want you've got either two choices - say you're going to go and skip class, or go and hope you can at least have some interesting debates about it. Unfortunately there's no law saying it's wrong to force religion on others so right now you're kind of screwed.
It's soo ridiculous that if a kid gets a slap across the face that isn't even hard ONCE because they're an out of control little shit, the parents could loose the kid and get prison time and stuff. But if they try to force relgion on them which can completely change and affect a child's entire life - that's fine. |

| The lessons religion teaches (well, some of them at least) are just pretty good life lessons. It'll teach you about compassion, respect and generally just things associated with a good person. Even if you aren't too into religion, there is always something you could pick up from the class. Religion isn't for everyone and sometimes it's hard to explain to people that it isn't for you. I am personally a Christian but my parents aren't religious, it was something I discovered myself. I think parental pressure puts a lot of people off religion as they constantly have it forced upon them. I know of a few Muslim people who have been almost disowned by their family for turning their back on religion. You're 14 now and in a few years you'll be getting a job or going off to college and then you'll be free to live the life you want. Four years might seem an eternity to you, but it isn't as long as you think. I'd just grin and bear it at the moment to make your Mum happy and to prevent arguments |

| I have religion lessons almost every day due to the fact that I go to a catholic school, but I just take it as an oppurtunity to catch up on some sleep as I have to get up at 6:30am I get people shouting "bible bashers" and "god squad" but I honestly couldn't give a left bollock haha |

| Yeah, this is ridiculous.
Also, you could tell her that you are muslim, that could give a humorous outcome?
But yeah, she's going a bit overboard with it, I don't see how you can force a religion on someone. Maybe just tell her sternly, 'I don't believe it, sorry for that. It's not going to change the person that I am, it's not going to make me go to the non existent hell, and it's not going to change the fact that I'm your son.' |

| She says I don't understand how important it is at this point in life.
She thinks that I'd actually marry a Christian, so I need to be confirmed to be married in a church. Fuck that, Mom!
I'm sorry to sound disrespectful, but it's one thing to tell me I can't hang out with a friend or something, but telling me that I have to believe in God because it only makes sense is just crossing the line with me.
And also, She thinks that this is just an excuse for getting out of religious ed!
BULLSHIT
