| As a born again evangelical Christian, I'm on your side. Yeah, of course I hope you come to Christ, but your Mum's approach isn't going to help at all. I agree with Ryan, look into it, but just try and come to some sort of agreement with your mum. For what it's worth I'll be prayin' for you. |

| 1. Browse /r/atheism 2. Listen to Death Metal or something like that, even if you don't like it, learn the lyrics, then put your speakers on 100% and grunt/scream the song!

- The lessons religion teaches (well, some of them at least) are just pretty good life lessons. It'll teach you about compassion, respect and generally just things associated with a good person. Even if you aren't too into religion, there is always something you could pick up from the class.
Religion isn't for everyone and sometimes it's hard to explain to people that it isn't for you. I am personally a Christian but my parents aren't religious, it was something I discovered myself. I think parental pressure puts a lot of people off religion as they constantly have it forced upon them. I know of a few Muslim people who have been almost disowned by their family for turning their back on religion.
You're 14 now and in a few years you'll be getting a job or going off to college and then you'll be free to live the life you want. Four years might seem an eternity to you, but it isn't as long as you think. I'd just grin and bear it at the moment to make your Mum happy and to prevent arguments
I agree with most of your statement, but... Teaches good life lessons? Like Gay people should be smited, you should cut off a piece of your son's dick for no apparent reason, and to sell your daughter into slavery, that's all OK? I will admit, some biblical stories could be considered "moral", but I prefer to learn morals by myself. I honestly like the fact that you aren't like "JESUS WILL SAVE YOU!" and nobody else is either, I can't stand that baloney; thanks for being open minded. |

If I refuse, she takes away a lot of my freedom and makes it so I can't hang out with friends and stuff. |

| your 14..... you live under your mothers roof. its her rules. when you are an adult and have your own house and rules you can do whatever you like. while you are under her roof, and a minor, do as your mum says. even if you dont agree. anyway, going along may have benefits.....if you dont believe, it will just cement it even more and you will come accustomed to their ridiculous ways.....then when you can stand on your own 2 feet, you can preach about how they do this and how they do that, and how it is absolute lunacy as you have experienced it first hand. now, be a good boy and do as your mother asks. |

| I'm saddened by this. You should be allowed to believe what you want. And if she persists in disrespecting your beliefs and forcing hers upon you, show her how she is being to you, by forcing yours on her. It may sound immature, but what she's doing is darn disgusting...
Wrap the God Delusion up in nice paper and give it to her saying "If you read this, i'll go, and then we'll both be accepting each other's beliefs" |
