| This thread may be a shitstorm just waiting to happen, but I just wanted to ask all of you what you think about it?
Do you think it's a bad thing or a thing that we shouldn't worry about?
Please give information supporting your opinion.
Do not mention God in this thread, because that guy has nothing to do with this question.
I personally am not gay, or bisexual, but I think that the right to marry whoever you want, whether it be a man or woman, should be up to the person who wants to get married themselves- not people who are close minded idiots (religious folk which are strongly against it) that are voting it out of the question.
This country was founded on freedom, and in the constitution, it specifically says that every citizen of the USA is entitled to the pursuit of happiness. If that isn't a winning argument in itself, then I don't know what this country is anymore.

| I think you choose to be gay just as much as you do to be straight. Everyone has the right to get married rather that person be gay or straight. I don't see how it's a big deal that someone else likes the same sex. Like so what? They're a human being just as you are so why not let them have the same right to gett married just as you do? |

Thats actually a cool point that I have never heard/ thought about. I wouldnt call it pathetic, just strange that they want approval from something that does not support their choices. I mean not necessarily all gays or people in general are getting married for the approval from god, but more because it's kind of a staple of love, but still, a community that provides so much hatred towards them, why even bother with the whole thing? (marriage) other than some legal reasons I guess. Mikkel you never fail me with a new awesome idea lol |

| I agree with Mikkels point, allowing gay marriage in a church is pretty awkward seeing as religions tend to disprove of homosexuality.
I personally don't care about gay marriage. Everyone should be free to choose who they want to spend their life with - it's a personal decision that no one else should influence. What I don't like are things like Gay Pride parades and such. They are always going to cause animosity as a lot of people don't like having things like that forced on them. Gay people argue for equal rights but there would be outrage if someone tried to hold a straight pride parade.
At the end of the day, you are always going to have homophobes in the world just like there will always be racism in the world |

| I honestly don't care if gays want to get married.
I think in this day and age, getting married in a church is tradition, it doesn't really have much to do with god or religion anymore.
If a man and another man, or a woman and another woman want to be together, why shouldn't they be allowed to?

| I have constantly changing ideas on this topic, the more I think about it. On the one hand, It is a free country, and not allowing people this is infringing on one of our constitutional rights, the pursuit of happiness. On the other hand, Marriage is a RELIGIOUS institution and at the same time we have freedom of religion and religious beliefs. On the THIRD hand, Married people get certain tax cuts and other things along those lines, which is unfair to those who aren't allowed to marry. SO, in conclusion my idea is that we either take away the benefits of marriage from married people, let EVERYBODY get married, or give them another option that is the equivalent of marriage with equal tax cuts and other benefits. I personally will never get married, I don't think I need to have a ceremony to be able to share my life with a loved one, let alone a religious ceremony. |

Mikkel nailed it. me....im not gay, im not religious, i do believe in a 'god' or a creator, but what that is i do not know. for me, i think it is quite simple. men have penises and women have vaginas. go figure. although im not against gay marriage, i dont think its right personally......BUT marriage is a sham these days anyway.....if you want to show your undying love for another same sex member, go ahead, but why do you have to make it public?....thats what the SWAG club is for Y'all. in some ways i think the celeb obsessed culture has attributed to the whole gay scene...... people are free to do whatever they want. its their lives. them them live them their way. we all have an opinion. those are mine. i guess its a sign of the troubled times we live in. the world is going to pot. give it a few years and hard drugs will be legal. |

| I'm all for it, it's crazy that people make such a big deal over it.
People just want to hate.... And they hate others being happy.
Homosexuality appears in nearly every type of mammal on this planet, but homophobia appears in only one.
Let people be happy and enjoy there life. |
