So, this has been bugging me for a few days now, and, yea, I thought I'd put my thoughts down and see what everyone thinks.

I don't know how much this news got made public, but last I heard our admin, harvey, has pretty much quit fingerboarding. He says he'll still come here from time to time, but, before he quit fbing he said that and came on soo infrequently, so, heres guessing that he'll be on even less now. Which isn't good.
He also apparently said that he doesn't want this place to change because he likes how it is (paraphrased, I don't remember the exact words).

A bunch of you know how much I dislike the theme of this place, looks like a retarded nuclear reactor, but, that aside, there are a BUNCH of things that need changing, things stickied, things cleaned up, sections that make no sense moved, rules updated (the 'don't bring back old posts') really needs to be in the rules, it'd save me + danny + alex SOO much time; and as well as that a bunch of other things I cant list off the top of my head. The point is, that they're never going to get done.

We just hit 200 members. I'm pretty proud of this place, I remember how tiny it was when I first came here and now its got 200 members? Sure, they're not all active, but, this place gets bigger and bigger day by day. Its no longer the tiny unheard of forum it used to be. And yet I just cant help feeling we're eventually, sooner rather than later, hit a point where this place needs to evolve, for lack of a better word. Stop having the content and feel of a tiny unheard of 'nooby' forum, and grow into something it could be. Something massive, to stand up there with ffi, fb.de, fb.es, etc. We could make this place AMAZING.

I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks like this, thats why I'm making this thread. But, if a decent amount of us think that this place could do with changes, an evolution as such, then, I think its really unfair for harvey to let nothing happen to this place just because he likes it how it is. Again, that doesn't just mean graphically. Other little changes could help this place soo much. And, tbh, if hes barely ever around, its not really like what here is like can matter to him that much.

That might sound harsh, but, I feel someone has gotta say this, otherwise what could become a giant, brilliant place, is going to end up staying small forever. If everyone wants that, then, fine, ignore me. I don't want to dictate, I want to know what everyone thinks and wants for this place. Because, a forum, essentially, is the people on it, not the leaders, be that harvey, or even me, danny + alex.

Please find it in your hearts and brains to leave more than a 1 word answer, or just something simple like 'I agree'. Dig deep into your mind and EXPLAIN yourself, because certainly to me, this is an important topic.

i agree with alot of things there, i respect that harvey made this place and that he likes it how it is but yeah, we need this place to step up its game, a remodel and a cleanup on the forum. 200 members is a big milestone but only about 50 members are actually active, dont know why they join and never post but they do.

I read it all this place is gonna turn into a fbspot (that place has turned around now) hopefully Harvey will be nice and understand us. What fucks me off the most is how an xbox can take over someones fucking life i mean he was fine until he got that xbox. I dunno if you could somehow move all the members to a new forum or make a new forum and basically put 'this place died go to :name or new forum: it's just a new version of this place. It wouldn't matter about losing members becuase we'd just loose the inactive members and the active members would move but I dunno and yeah this place looks like a nuclear reactor we could make something like fingerboardpt so. We have media store and events and of course a forum it could work

keep something simple as the topic image things :L i hate it on forums where they have pictures of things like wheels, its annoying.

And, well, yea, I'd happily make an entire new forum, make a page with like, news and events and make it like fb.es is as a start page, then a link to the forum. I'd love something like that. I always thought, because we're from the United Kingdom, and my dream for fingerboarding is that there can be a place where everyone can come together, regardless of country, and just enjoy fingerboarding, that maybe it could called 'Unite FB - UK grown, one love, worldwide'.

BUT, its the whole members thing. And, tbh, harvey managed to make a really solid start here and it'd be a shame to loose all his hard work. Mad props to him for all he did, but, if hes not interested then its harsh that nothing will be done : o

I really agree on this topic, Harvey doesnt see how much many of us love this forum and really just needs to take a minute to make kerry an admin so we can fix it and compete with other forums.
Jack what you said makes sense if you did this, I would join it and advertise it in fact I have a few names in mind. Lol.

I'd absoluteley love something like fbes we could have setup of the week park of the month media stores events etc and yea I totally respect Harvey for making this place but before you knowit his xbox will have took his life over so much that he won't remember this place existed I could probably start working on a websie or something and then we could add a forum it'd really bring up the uk scene too.

I think we all need to slow down for a minute.. We need harveys input on this. I don't want to leave fbhq. If everyone goes off from reading this and makes their own forums and sites the community is just gonna be split even more, which is exactly what we DON'T want.

We want fbhq to grow. Or, I certainly do. We could make here into a sick place, not go somewhere else, thats a last resort and one I don't particularly want to resort to.

So, don't make new forums, just, show your support for whats written in my essay up there and harvey will hopefully see it and read it and it'll have some effect.

tbh, i dont want a new forum, this is the place i love :L ive been here from the day it was made or something :L litterally i wad the 3rd member, harvey went through so much effort to make this place what it is and i wouldnt really want to just destroy that by making a new forunm =/.

I think we should try to find some way to have live video chats with other members. Like a web ca,. Then members could help other members with tricks, could play s-k-a-t-e and such.

word! loving the idea, im going to email him, he usually is pretty good at responding. we do need, change, i think kerry=admin=huge changes and everything we need. end of story

tbh im not fussed. i think too many people have big ideas but most of the time its just kids with 5 minute wonders.....now probably half of the lesser know 'wannabee' members are making new forums as we speak to take half of the members that are already here.....

ok.....id like to see the forum grow, but rome wasnt built in a day. these things take time....also id rather members that would post, and let themselves known, and like say 'hello' so it feels like the friendly forum we have now, only bigger.....its no good people joining and not posting, as danny just said, only 50 of us regularly post......im thinking maybe less......

i do agree changes could be made, and it could be for the better, but again you cannot judge a book by its cover.........

id put my vote in for change cos i know kerry would make a awesome job of it, its on harvey though.....maybe harvey has this forum on the bay for sale now?.....can you sell a forum? who knows????

we coulkd make a new forum... its a great idea just think... kerry could be admin..... dont try to take over the forum its imposible so just make a new one

guys. theres no need for a new forum, we just need to persuade harvey to make kerry a second admin, for the newer members who dont know him you probably think he's a douche, but seriously, he's not, he worked so hard on this forum and imagine how it would feel to have all that just thrown away.
also, if we started a new forum we would all loose our posts :O, nobody wants that, do they?

if everyone is just gonna knock on harvey or talk about starting again from this place, I think this should be locked. I DON'T want to loose all of harveys effort making this place. He does other things with his life now, and whilst I could never stop loving fingerboarding, to each their own. Hes still a really nice guy from all the times I've talked to him and knowing him from being one of my sponsors.

We need changes here. They have been outlined here + elsewhere. Its also been outlined here, through replies, that everyone wants change.

That was why I started this post. Feel free to keep on posting your thoughts regarding the subject matter of the original post, but, lets not have a billion 'I'll make a new forum!111' posts. I <3 fbhq, really just want to improve it, not let it die.

yeah i agree but is harvey gonna come on here again? hopefully he will but last time he just said hey guys and then did nothing.
