PostSubject: A - Levels   A - Levels EmptyWed Jan 09, 2013 8:01 pm

Ok so i'm really stuck for choice on some a - level subjects. At the moment I am considering taking all three sciences with psychology. Is there anyone on here that did/ is studying all three as / a level science. I understand the sciences themselves are hard, but what I want to know is how large the work load is with all three combined and is it really hard/ you wont have a social life if you pick all 3? thanks

It depends on the school in all honesty. I took maths, psychology and phil-ethics as my a2s, and I was fine, whereas I know someone who took the same subjects and got nailed by their teachers because of workload.
Have you spoken to anyone else that went to the same college you're thinking of going to? Bear in mind that to a lot of people (myself included) the work load at a level was a walk in the park in comparison with degree level. So take whatever advice you're given with a pinch of salt.

Im doing physics, maths and product design. I dropped music at the end of last year.
A levels are hard man, you gotta work hard if you dont want Ds Es and Us.

Id definitely reccomend physics because its a useful qualification as far as applying to uni, but there are some hard concepts to understand, especially at a2.

Id pick 3 subjects you want/need for uni, and 1 easier one that you'll probably drop after the AS year.

What Boffey said.

Also, essay subjects like History and English are really well considered. Honestly, choose subjects you like. Most Uni courses don't look at which A-Levels you do, just the grades.

THAT SAID, check first. If you know what you wanna do at Uni (if you wanna go), check their requirements. Some places will need certain A-Levels for certain courses.

Rofl about the social life part.

I did Physics, Chemistry, Maths and ICT full A Levels (and compulsory PE and AS General Studies in the first year only). I also wanted to do a Further Maths A-level but would have had timetable clashing.

The subjects you've chosen give you a nice range of options for your future. I've known a few people who chose those subjects and they did really well. At A-level, it's also relatively easy to find resources to help you study. It's a little tough but you'll manage. happy

I wouldn't advise all three sciences, that's gonna be a shit ton of work and A levels (certainly for me) were a fuck load harder than university. I did computing, french, biology, and AS georgraphy - there was just soo much work : o

maybe two sciences is a good idea? happy

I do Drama, English, classical civilisation and economics. Three are essay subjects and Drama makes you do quite a few too.

Tomorrow i need to write two essays - fuck.

My workload is bad, but i can manage - you do have to do a lot at weekends though. I have many friends who do biology, chemistry, physics and seem to cope because most of it is short answer stuff, but it's probably advisable to mix and match a bit - Unis like versatility. Economics is like science and maths in many ways and i fucking love it so maybe try that.

All 3 sciences for A level? lol.

That'll be so difficult.. Honestly.

If you can speak a language at A level standards it makes you MUCH more appealing for job applications, so try and do a language if you can happy
