Let me start by saying that this probably should be put somewhere else, but I don't know where I should put it. Nevertheless, here's my issue: I am getting a yellowood from a trade (which means no slim tape) and I don't know whether I should get Riptape or Slim & Catchy. I have S&C and I like it, but I want riptape because I need some bushings. Which tape is grippier and takes less time to break in? That will be my main deciding factor.

next time use the quick questions thread, but it's okay as you didn't know this time. slim and catchy wears in quicker, waaay quicker - rip classic takes AGES. If you're after some bushings why not pick up a fingersized setup kit along with the slim and catchy, that way you get trucks, bushings, tape, bearingless wheels, and the rip for £7. Probably the cheapest option if you're UK/EU, but if you're US it's maybe better to get slim and catchy with some flatface team bushings

Thanks Kerry. I live in the US but a problem that I had with my team bushings is that they snapped, and I had to use china bushings instead. I was gonna make another thread about comparing teflons to team bushings, but I thought that would be too many posts.

you probably tightened them too much, team bushings are a loose bushing. If you like tighter trucks teflons will be great and see the thread called 'quick questions' in fingerboard discussion? It's a sticky. questions that don't really need their own thread go there

The original rip tape lasts sooo long. The only down side is the break in time but once it is broken in it's really good. The bushings that come with the rip are like perfect imo. I'd only get slim and catchy if you need lots of grip.

Depend how much you fingerboard. I rarely pick up my board now but it took me around a week to get it worn in. For you it can take a day or two if you fb alot |

I fingerboard all the time. Even when I watch vids on youtube I'll pop a few laser flips or something. But still, my s&c is still not very worn in

Lmfao. Riptape classic doesn't take months to wear in. I'd say if you fingerboard an average amount, it's about a week. If you fb a lot, it's a few days. Both tapes are really good and I like the bushing kit too so I usually would prefer the classic option.

I honestly prefer riptape classic. I dunno what it is, but when it finally wears in, it's just amazing. however, I like slim & catchy as well

I only tried fbs once and that was at rendezvous. It's good, but it's too expensive for me.

Another issue with FBS was that I actually thought it was too grippy I would really need to try it out for a long time in order to develop a real opinion on it, but as I see it now, it's too expensive and too grippy.

I really like new foamy greatness. It's really smooth at first, but it's smooth yet grippy when broken in.
