| I've seen a lot of fingerboarding videos where people do tons of technical tricks combos and I'm wondering is that any better than just doing nice clean basic tricks.
I can be super technical if I want to be, but sometimes I like going back to the basics and focus on doing really nice and clean solid basic tricks.
So I guess my style is more of a basic one.
What is your style? Do you prefer to do tons of trick combos or do more simpler and basic stuff? |

| Im not extremely good yet, but good enough to just keep it real and lay down good-flowing, solid, clean, stylish lines with just basic tricks. Could fingerboard that way for hours. Especially since you can land things more frequently. Instead of throwing in lots of flip tricks and crazy stuff and trying the same combo a million times. But, eventually being able to lay down insane bangers would be sweet. |

| Basic is kind of a harsh word, Perhaps realistic and simplistic would be more suiting.
I like simple and clean, personally. |

| "Styles tend to not only separate men - because they have their own doctrines and then the doctrine became the gospel truth that you cannot change. But if you do not have a style, if you just say: Well, here I am as a human being, how can I express myself totally and completely? Now, that way you won't create a style, because style is a crystallization. That way, it's a process of continuing growth." -Bruce Lee |

| I get all of my influence from skate videos, fingerboard videos are boring to me. So often I re-create tricks from my favorite videos and most of the time they are pretty basic, but ill do it like 30 times in a row to try and make it look just like the video haha |

Agree. I also prefer doing realistic skateboarding tricks... Doing super technical combo's like combining grinds on multiple rails and boxes with 360 heelflips and stuf is cool... But that's just not realistic... |

| yeah i like realistic. finger boarding is scaled down skateboarding right? so there is no need to land a 720 flip on flat, or a 15 foot air on a 4 foot replica qp. |

| Style is expressing yourself. The better you get at your art (in this case be it fingerboarding) the better you can express your inner person, The better you get at expressing what you have that no one else has. Once your fingerboarding is completely unique, that is the epitome of self expression. Everyone's style will at some point if they put enough time in be completely unique, it just takes the time and energy to get there. People who have put the most time in are most pleasurable to watch because they can use their fingerboards the easiest and they can fully express themselves without trouble. |

It doesn't make you bad at all. Don't worry about standards. I tend to fb very realistically and have only put a handful of technical tricks into my videos just to add a bit of variety. When I fb off camera, my tricks are almost 100% realistic, which probably stems from me skateboarding in the past. Do what you love, and don't worry about impressing people with your videos. Personally, I enjoy watching videos of realistic tricks much more than very technical stuff. |
