| I have desired one of these for what seems like ages. So I thaught I would share my way of building one of these. Most builds like this are done the other way around by carving out the insides of the pool then adding mesh and cement, but I am doing it the opposite way like concrete sink benchtops are made. I will also try and make it as lightweight as I can by adding a thin layer of fiberglass/cement instead of a thicker layer of cement with mesh. This whole deal will all become clearer when I post updates to the thread.. First some transition curve measures for shallow and deepend.. Time to decide the pool style. I selected keahole style and made a outline template from a scrap piece of 5mm plywood.. Styrofoam is exelent for carving and sanding out shapes. I have used the outline template to sharpie on the lines for roughly cutting the styrofoam to the desired shape.. Time for some cutting! Check back soon.. |

| Sorry for not having the time to do a lot of frequent updates on this project. Its slowly progressing, but I wish I had the time to get it done faster. Ahh well..here`s the shaping templates though. They will be used as a reference for the transitions when I get to the shaping of the actual pool.. Next step - shaping the styrofoam! Check back soon..

| Cool! I like shaping like this and making molds this way. Then pour the cement mix, let cure and boom!! instant silky smooth shape ready for use.. The curved sides have been sanded smooth before transitions are shaped.. I have started to shape the shallow to deepend transition too.. Shape is finally starting to show a little bit! Stay tuned for next update.. |
