Big Park Empty
PostSubject: Big Park   Big Park EmptyFri Sep 12, 2014 4:32 am

Here is my big park, in fact its the biggest park I have. It's around 7 feet long and 2 1/2 or 3 feet wide.

It's base is from an old door.

It's pretty heavy too, I can just manage to move it around on my own so its really a two person job moving this thing.

This park is so big that when I was building it, I accidentally left a metal speed square tool in side of it. That's right, when I was building this thing I actually left a tool in it and didn't know about it until I picked up the park and heard a clank metal sound and then made the connection.

I would like to remove the tool, but I think its going to cause more damage than good, so I'm leaving it in for now.

Also a lot of the transitions were filled in with wood putty. While it may not look the best, but it makes all of the transitions super smooth. So it feels really nice going from ramp to ramp.

And the double bank ramp was actually done on accident. I originally made a bank ramp that was too steep and so I then had to lessen the slope of it by adding another part on it, but the final result is super fun.

If anyone ever wants to skate it, it will be at all future Texas Rendezvous in Houston.

Yes, that the key concept that I try and achieve.

I try and make my parks in such a way that it feels open and free and comfortable.

If you put too many ramps/obstacles in a park it becomes cramped.

The coping is from home depot and its a square coping that I custom cut to custom sizes.

The sides of the coping where painted orange to prevent rust and the metal part was clear coated also to prevent rust.

Also the metal coping transition from being straight to going down the slant is super smooth. I achieved this by first gluing the coping on and then sanding the excess metal down and then using epoxy as like a filler to make connections smooth. I just poured epoxy over the metal to metal connections and then sanded it down and then repeated the process until the grind is smooth.

So on the slant down rail on the ledge its really two pieces of metal cold welded together.
