I noticed I can get a pack of 50 for around $7. Do tons of guys use these? If I get them I plan to ship them out at cost. Maybe like, $1.50 for 8 nuts shipped. I would just throw them in an envelope.

It won't let me post a link to where I was going to purchase them. But if you search "M3-0.5 / 3mm - Qty 50 - Nylon Insert Hex Lock Nut " on eBay I guarantee you'll see what I'm talking about.

Also, is that the right size? 3mm? M3-.5 specifically?

haha I know right!? I've been using Loctite as I always have some in my shop. I noticed sites were charging $10 for 4 nuts when I can get 50 for less then that. But I don't want to order them and it be the wrong size.

Update! The supplier I was going to get the nuts from is going to give me 3 samples in different sizes so I can see if it is what I need. I'll be purchasing them in bulk after I test them out. I should be able to ship 8 of them for like $1.50 if they are what I need. I don't want to make this a "for sale" thread because I assume you have a different forum thread for that (I couldn't find it?). So it's a "to be determined" post lol. Mod's if I can't say this or whatever tell me how to edit it and I can.

One type you could look into is mostly used for like model trains and so on. I had some more info on where to get them some time ago, but it could be years, so I doubt i can find a link for you. But If suddenly it shows up I can post whatever info I find in my old files..

Waaaaay to big. The number represents the size of the threaded hole, and at 3mm, you could practically slip the bushings right through it! Metric size is about m1.6 and standard is 0-80. I have found a few sources but most require bulk ordering (1000+ pieces) or are basically the same price as brr

However Here's some fb companies selling them that are managing to undercut the price a little, but still not verry cheap:

I didn't think of looking into model train suppliers. Also, I wouldn't mind ordering 1000 of them for $10 as I know I could ship them out to people on here. I would rather have too many and give them out for free.

It's so easy to find normal hex nuts in the size #0-80. The lock nuts are a little more difficult. I found a pack of 4 for $3. I also hit up Karat fingerboarding as they had a pack of 6 for $1.50 so I asked about bulk ordering (thank you @jimydave ).

The bulk order was definitely not that cheap, more like 100-600 dollars for a minimum of 1000 pieces. There is a reason why brr charges so much for them, even at wholesale they are still pretty expensive.

@jimydave I'm too new to post the link, so thank you! And still, $100 for 1000 is still $.10 a pop! I emailed that source asking for a bulk order. If all else fails I'll order the 4 for $3. I'm not trying to be a super cheap-ass, I really want to be able to get these out at cost to people.

I actually emailed about 10 suppliers today. 3 have responded that they do not do 00 thread sizes. But yea they are looking to be a tough find.

I also called Grainger and Fastenal and they don't have any. I also emailed a few acquaintances from Fastenal from when I used to work there. Hopefully they come through.

Micro Fasteners .com is one of the only suppliers I could find so far. $77.50 for 100. Looks like it's even cheaper then the Chinese Karat fingerboarding website. Ugh! These little bastards are pricey. I am trying to see if I can get like $20 worth. The wife would kill me if I bought over $50 worth of locknuts lol
