| Get a 13" MBP, much better specs than a regular macbook, hardware wise too, and it's about £70 more i think? |

| hardware wise they're a shit load more expensive than the same exact piece of hardware in a normal pc/laptop. And personally I think the OS is annoying. AND theres less programs for it than there is for the pc (ultimately not MANY, but, a few). Everyone I know with a mega expensive mac has dual boot sectors and can select either windows or mac os on startup. I'm kerry, I'm 22, and I'm a PC. I just don't like mac. Toooo expensive. I mean, they've got final cut pro, and thats a great piece of software, but, its not worth buying a whole computer for. In short, I'm probably bias, but from a computing degree graduate's point of view, macs = not worth it. Buy/build (its reallly easy) a beast of a pc. |

| shop around for something thats good specs and good price? maybe buy a good spec laptop without an amazing graphics card in it and then buy a laptop graphics card? Get an ati radeon, what ever the latest radeon cards are.. ATI cards own, I've never liked nvidia that much. Got a ati hd4670 in my pc atm, its a beast. Shame the rest of the pc is like 8+ years old and dying XD
I'm tired but I'll have a scout around for laptops tomorrow when I've got some free time and see what I find ^_^ |

| I heard alienwares' are good windows laptops, I'm not sure though. Before anyone says, Windows has more games, they're is something called boot camp though for Macs. I think Macs are worth it, unless you know how to build a hackintosh, but don't want all the updates/etc. I have an iMac and macbook, both are great. And, if you're just trying out Macs, if you don't like it, you can use bootcamp and make a seperate partition and make the Windows one your main one. Oh and bootcamp isn't an emulator, it's basically the real deal. You can do anything a Windows computer can do in it. |

but for a fuck load more money. The decider is really how much money have you got? Buy a decent laptop with windows, or splash out on a MEGA expensive same spec mac book, run boot camp, buy windows, and then have two OSs? I just don't see the point in macs unless you're fully into professional editing photos or videos : o Windows is a much easier OS to use imo. Get windows 7, its nom. Although I'm still running windows XP, fucking old school now XD |

what are your thoughts on it Thom? I have a 15" Macbook Pro, had it for a month now, and i absolutely love it. The things with macs are this; you're investing in a computer that'll last for years. My friends powerbook from 10 years ago is still going strong, and is a hell of a lot faster than the Desktop PC that he has (His Powerbook has NEVER gone wrong or failed, his Desktop is worth around £800 and frequently screws up.) As for Applications, Macs are mainly used for creative purposes, hence why i've bought one for graphic design, among music and video editing to name a couple. You might want to try out a Linux OS on your computer before you make any further decisions, most linux OS' are free, i used Ubuntu and it was absolutely brilliant! I'd honestly give that a try if you're bored of Windows, before you take a big plunge, haha |

| YEs i might try one of those. I am still pretty unsure weather to get or a good gaming laptop as i am mainly looking for something with a good updated graphics card some good quality and speed as i have a laptop which is like alm,ost 5 years old it is super slow after 10 minutes of using it, It doesnt hold charge very long and gets really hot really fast and there is no way you can watch videos or play games as it has unbearable lag so i dont use it anymore |
