| yea, me travelling 6 hours on the train to get there is crazy enough (thats assuming I find the money to go ^_^), flying to another continent is a little crazy for a meetup XD
and haha, free harriers? I said it wouldn't be long before people started making up stuff like that XD ^___^ |

| okay, i've really refrained in hope it wouldn't come to this so all in all this is bad news as a whole.
1. i havn't recieved any sponsorship items from any company, and not even a reply from blackriver ramps. which in a way is pretty understandable seen as they would be really busy over xmas. so basically that means: -no prizes -no park.
2. onto the plaza. my dentist has really let me down, as they told me the NHS won't pay for my dental work, so my folks have to fork out £1250. so that means no G5 "/
3. my only option or resort now, is to hold like a meetup or something, and i'll lower entrance to like £1.50. get like stash loads of food, and if you wanted to, just bring a park obstacle or 2 each whether it be homemade or whatever. any effort towards the event is highly appreciated.
-if we decided to have a meet up, we could focus on probably makin like a whole UK full part film.
or at least something to make the event go ahead.
i know how much alot of you were looking forward to the event, which is why i'm not going to fully cancel it. a meetup instead of like a proper event is my last option.
really sorry for the news.
please leave comments and opinions. |

| £1250 for tooth problems? Shiiit, they must be pretty bad, thats a wholeee lot of money : o hope what ever you need doing for that much goes well What happened to FBS? Mind you, saying that, I've been waiting almost three weeks for FBS esmooth to turn up from FBS, apparently it was shipped over two weeks ago. I emailed, but no reply .__. Gonna be disputing the payment on paypal soon I tihnk.. I don't wanna be a dick, but I'm not paying for something if I don't get it. I think FBS is less legit that everyone makes it out to be : o Meetup idea sounds good, best way to make something good out of a bad situation If I can still come I'll bring my grind box + polejam (which I'm ordering in a few days hopefully) Regardless, I hope people still go, even if its a meetup it'll still be a fun day, and it'll be good for the UK fingerboard scene the more events that happen |

| Exactly Me and my friends made the sickest park the other weekend using random bits of wood and our combined pathetic abilities at DIY! (pics in the newest ramps thread if anyone didn't see that) You don't need BRR quality stuff to have a good time. I mean, theres an idea, why not build a park? If you've got tables at the place to put stuff on,then, go to a DIY shop (wickes is cheapest I've found), buy a sheet of plywood, 3.6mm thick is easiest to work with, and a sheet fairly big is £6, find someone who's dad has a love for powertools and as such has a jigsaw (or, if you have woodwork in school you could make this in school if they'd let you), design some ramps on google sketchup (which is EASY, took me like 10 minutes to work out how it all works and start designing parks on it), take the measurements from sketchup, cut out your bits of wood, nail/glue wood to table in a ramp like fashion, repeat until park is made (Y) It wouldn't be as smooth as cruising the brr G7 park, butt, its gonna cost you like, £12. Instead of 1.7 thousand euros BEFORE shipping.. 'some less known companys like jace and mitt' MITT? Who the fuck hasn't heard of mitt! Bad example *pats on head* And, jace recently went through an ownership change and has a lot on, so that probably wouldn't amount to much.. Asking todd is a good idea, hes super legit and makes epic products. There should be contact information on the no comply website.. If you ask nicely, state your situation, don't make it sound like you NEED sponsors. Companies hate that, you don't NEED free stuff to fingerboard together, they want to know that you'll have the event regardless and that you're just trying to get some cool things for people who come, and, hopefully you'll get something. |

| as much as I agree with going for companies that are less known of, they should not suck too.. I mean, there are a billion shitty companies little kids on youtube have started, a couple more billion kids who can't do anything at all except a kickflip and land with the palm of their hands, and they're sponsored by said shitty companies. Nothing wrong with small companies, just, as long as they're legit, not company number 1029908398340983490834 to sell pivot cups and foam tape from a crafts store or something .___. You want the event to end up good, and legit, not end up with a bunch of lame sponsors just because you rushed it. For example, if you go on that maplewood site, theres a link to another UK fingerboard event, hosted in london. Two random girls charged 10 quid for people to sesh a table with a few brr obstacles and a td halfpipe. And the sponsors were like, nollie wheels and stuff. I dunno if their upcoming event is gonna not suck, but, they've got a long way to go from the first one. I don't want UKR2 to end up something anyone who is even an average skilled fingerboarder will laugh at, because, it deserves the proper recognition it'll get if you don't rush into getting sponsors and think first I hope your 'hoe emailing' involved some premptive thought, is all. If you support random lame companies that aren't well thought of in the respected fingerboarding world (for what I know fingerdecks comes under that category) then people aren't gonna take your event seriously, and it isn't gonna grow. And we want it to grow, so there can be more UK events, that draw more people, and maybe in a few years we'll have BRR attending rather than BRR maybe sponsoring Appologies if that sounds like I'm being all self righteous, but its hard to make that point without sounding like a douche. I hope someone understands what I mean |
