I aont gonna kiss anyones ass just to FIT IN! I'm saying that you're not even capable to back up this company and basically leave it to the owner or someone else to make a defensive point and that's when you just agree with them and say that "that's what I was saying all along" |

It's 101 if you're in it for the money. Making a brand. You cant really equate "in it for the money" with having a copyright. Having a copyright protects you from people taking your brand, whether youre giving things out out or whatev. If Flatface isnt copyrighted, someone can take the name and everything. Its not about making money, its about protecting yourself from theft. You know, some people actually make a living off fingerboarding. Its their job. If youre thinking TD, i was thinking more Todd of NC who's main source IS NC. Its better not to have assumed their plot with this company and just let it play out, THEN, form your opinion on the actions of the owner. Theres no need to take it out on business 101. So i shall state it again, having a copyright isnt bad. In fact, i encourage folks to have one JUST IN CASE. As for this company, the items look suspect. Take that for however ya want. (edit) Also... i wasnt defending this company... ? I was more defending the purpose of copyright methods. This Northwood owner is 37 years old, prolly, so he's old enough to handle his own. |

| Copyright normally works if you have a brand name thats the same of a similar brand. Like, if theres a company called
Barnone
for example, and it sold soft drinks. A person could have a company named Barnone so long as its NOT the same product. So.. like clothing or some jazz. I forget how it goes exactly. Now if its a TRADEMARK, its different. Name, brand, everything is protected.
Again, from what i remember. Do your research on the matter. |

| You people literally have 0 idea of how a business works. If a company is evil because they are "in it for the money" why doesn't flatface give boards for free? That would really support the scene. Support northwood, support fingerboarding. |

| maple veneer isnt very expensive..... you need less than a square foot for a fingerboard. 10 square feet for 14 bucks i believe is the going rate. $1.40 a board, so is sanding and cutting and finishing worth $38.60 cents? assuming most nice not china boards are forty dollars. Which is a low ball. There seems to be a profit margain there. If "true" fingerboarding companies werent somehow in it for the money why wouldnt they charge at cost and break even? Profit. Profit. Profit. Thats how business works. There is no purpose in starting a company and selling a product if there isnt financial gain..... maybe when you hit high school you can take an economics class
Dont get me wrong, good quality boards are great and worth the money but there is profit in there. Maybe you should pioneer the industry and make a non profit fingerboard company? |

| lots of people like you have joined recently. Sure, lots of companies do make a fairly large profit, but a lot of them have given a lot to the scene over time and are well respected. Northwoods haven't been in the scene for long and have made many decisions showing they have little idea about the scene and are more interested in the money. |

Northwoods are trying to help the scene grow and if you knew the owner as well as I do , you would know.... They have sponsored my event, gave a few fingerboards away 2 their local hospital and sponsored an event in the UK. You can't say Northwoods have not done anything for the scene and yeah they are still growing but so what.. You can't say much about the company when you have not even tried a deck  |

Do you realize it's not just the supplies that add to the cost of the price right? Keep in mind of the tools you need to buy to make a deck as well. Making a fingerboard takes time, effort, and lots of practice. You can't just buy some veneer, glue, etc. and make a perfect board. |

| ^Not to mention the labour costs. Let's say 4 hours work goes into a deck, not pressing, waiting for laquer to dry etc, but sanding, shaping, gluing, laquering, drilling and shit. If your 'paying' yourself per hour, that money needs to come from the deck sale. The only difference is flatface etc put the money back into the company to make better products etc, unlike northwoods, who probably keeps 90% of it. |

The fingerboard scene is some what small and incase you don't know there's china distributors that are selling bulk of their products to people who re sell them and keep just about all of the profit if not all of it. What i'm trying to say is that when people say that companies are in it for the money they mean that they don't care for fingerboarding, just want the money or don't put some of the profit they make back into the scene. |

| This is a picture of the skate park a mile from my house here in Baton Rouge. A combination of the skateshop we sell fbs at and the kindness of the ones who run it, have given Northwoods an opportunity to set up our park by that tree over there on the top right. We not only get to set up ramps and skate but we get to do it during every major public event they have. We will be allowed to have product tosses and sell great gear. The possibilities are endless for spreading the word to make a positive and true change to my scene for fingerboarding. I am stoked for our first event, as soon as that occurs, I will update you. |
