| One of my college profs thought it was pretty interesting. asked about it one day after class when he saw me and my buddy playing skate. Family thinks its interesting but annoying (sounds) my friends are the ones that got me into fingerboarding as for the friends that don't fingerboard they think its pretty sweet. |

| My family hates the noises it comes from it but won't ask me to quit. They basically have made it painfully obvious to keep it in my room. |

| Family: Think it's pretty unique but I spend way too much time doing it. Friends: I have got a few friends into fingerboarding. Most of them don't care but think it's a bit sad. Teachers: Most hate it. Hence why I don't take a fingerboard to school often. |

| DAMN I miss fbing in school. Must have had a thousand TDs confiscated over the years. My Dad thinks it's stupid and embarrassing - I think the same of him. My mum thinks it's a waste of time and can't understand why I enjoy it, but thinks it's creative. She likes anything I do that's creative really. She's also asked me a number of times to explain how it works, like 'so how do you make it jump onto the rail?' haha. My sister never mentions it really.. she's never showed any interest in it. |

| Dad: Thinks that It is the most annoying noise in the world, but he likes the fact that I love it and he supports me and buys me some stuff Love you Dad <3 Teachers: None of them know. For a good reason.. They will think I am some retard.. Friends: Outside of school - Loads (lot's of people on here and others) inside - think I'm a retard. (the people that know) I only have 1 friend inside of school that fingerboards.. but he barely does it. Others: Probably don't care (whoever others are..) But I will still continue to do it, as I don't care what anyone thinks.. (unless it's a posotive thing) |

| Parents: "Hey son, we're going to the Blackriver store to chill at the skateparks. U MAD?" Me: "I'M MAD!"
Teachers (years ago when i brought FB to school): "I'll nail that board to a tree". Me: "Then you'll find your head in the same place sir".
Friends: "Let's fingerboard!" Me: "Ok, you bring the beers!"
Kids at work: "You are god!", "Is it true you won the Danish championship once?" Me: "Yes i know", "Yes it is".
Random girls around the world: "WOW! You sure know how to use your fingers". Me: "Yea. Wanna learn more about it?"

| My parents can't get enough of it, haha >.< If we're going somewhere like my parent's friends house my dad will say "Rafi, you've got your fingerboard in your pocket right?" So he can impress everyone and say how his son doesn't kill his brain playing playstation for hours straight haha My mum likes it, she's a jeweller so she loves looking at all the products and also likes how I know someone in most countries of the world who i can call a friend My bro thinks its so funny how I actually discovered one of those weird gimmick hobby's on the internet and mastered it haha, he fingerboards too My friends try and ollie and stuff when they come to my house, but I guess you don't really get hooked on it easily if you don't have a skating mentality lol, and I don't bring my fingerboard to school |

SO TRUE. fingerboarding is a much better pastime than sitting in a basement motionless playing video games. |

| Parents approve, but not enough as to get me European level products. It's a good thing the scene's growing here in the Philippines. Also, since we're third-world, my parents always complain on why the competitions are held at shady places, unlike the Rendezvous. My friends are sort of indifferent, some of them tech deck and look up to me even though I suck. (They can only ollie so that explains it.) Some cute girls in my class find it interesting when I bring it to school though, so I bring it erryday. |

| My mum and her boyfriend I guess are passively accepting of it. When I'm staying at their house, I don't fingerboard late or anything so that's fine. They have seen my huge collections, the fact that I've attended a couple events and they know that I'm sponsored. I have tried to make it clear about my justifications of having such a large collection where some are just for collecting, some are for sale when I get the chance, some are free from contests or sponsors. They're just disappointed that I can't win money from contests in the UK... maybe one day that could change.
My dad (parents are divorced) knew I used to be really into Tech Decks but I don't know if he still knows that I fingerboard. He already heavily disapproves of me skateboarding, the only real reason being that I can't skateboard into my older years so it's a waste of time doing it now. With that opinion of skateboarding, I don't talk to him about fingerboarding.
My Chinese family on both parents sides know that I do fingerboard though. I think they're just being polite when I show them some tricks because they probably don't think there's anything beyond fingerboarding apart from being a toy. They were a little impressed and I remember bringing a Tech Deck to China years ago too. They were also really impressed with the engineering of a proper fingerboard setup with 5 ply wooden decks, bearing wheels and foam tape.
About teachers, I can only say about when I was at school... in grammar school (high school), I did fingerboard in class and between classes. I got loads of Tech Decks confiscated, some just told me to put it away and one teacher asked us about it after her class and tried to help us arrange a contest for one of the breaks. Didn't fingerboard during Sixth form college or university.
So I have quite a few skateboard friends. In the UK, some are quite interested in it, especially how I have a freestyle trickset on fingerboards as well as skateboards. One friend could do kickflips on them and I decided to give him a Close Up complete because he only had a broken Tech Deck and no others to fingerboard on. All these other kids come up to me and are like "are you sponsored by Tech Deck/for Tech Decking?", so obviously as a fingerboarder, I say no... and I won't explain unless I can be arsed.
I used to have some fingerboard/skateboarder friends from school but they've all moved away.
As for non-skater friends, I've not really brought it up to everyone. But anyone who does know think it's cool.
I work in China right now and I'm teaching in a Business College. I attended one of the other teacher's lectures at the start just to grasp the teaching style and I almost laughed when during a Marketing lecture he said that companies can choose to sponsor people but they choose really famous people. I've not told any colleagues here since it's not really appropriate most of the time. I'd disturb someone from the noise of the fingerboarding.
I was joking to an American friend here in China about the correct term being "fingering". So he goes and tells a guy I work with (they're good friends since America) that I am sponsored for fingering and that people in France pay money to see me finger and that my fingering skills are known throughout the world. Haha, I don't mind since I was the one to joke about that in the first place.
Skaters here in Yantai think it's pretty cool but it was quite hard to teach them to do any good tricks like ollies or kickflips, they could do shoveits and that's about as far as it goes. One guy is quite interested and he's going to buy a China complete from the internet (haha, weird when Chinese people buy them? but I guess it supports their own scene hahaha). Yeah, he said he can't afford any better ones and I totally understand. Uni students in China mostly aren't that rich and buying skateboards was pretty expensive already. I'm going to get my mum to send a couple of spare Close Up completes so I can give them to 2 good skater friends here. |
