| HOMEWOODS! i knew i was forgetting something. last time i had one was march this year but ill still give an overview:
Homewoods: American made. Most customizable decks out there, with 9 different molds to choose from. three different kick heights and three different concaves combined for 9 different shapes. you can also choose from their ply colours for each ply to customize it the way you want. they are 4 plies, not 5 so they are lighter than most decks. They also have a handpainted smokestack graphic that you can request custom colours for as well, and it looks awesome. very impressive customizability. the kicks are just like a berlinwood, where the tail is shorter. they come in a variety of widths, from 28mm to 32 mm which is awesome. Someone just getting back into the scene would like this because you can choose exactly what you want, for a cheap price. $30 USD. |

| Thank you so much RM! That is a lot of information and I can already see just from what you wrote about the different companys that things have advanced a lot since I was big into FBing.
I'm having a hard time convincing my wife to help me out for Christmas so I may just have to go with a cheaper set up and give myself a gift.
Homewood seems like they have the decks down to a science and thats not a bad price for getting the "perfect" deck.
Now since I haven't been into FBing in a long time and never had the opportunity to choose what I like since it was the plastic techdecks or wooden decks without concave so I'm kind of lost where to start.
I want something I can control and not pop so much that it goes flying at the ceiling when I do anything and of course I'm limited with funds which really is a downer since I was hoping my wife would help me out.
I'll see what I can come up with as far as a $ limit and maybe someone on here will have a complete they can sell me. I would like to try the bearing wheels if possible and I don't care if the deck has graphics the plain wood grain look is fine. |

| yeah a rough dollar limit could really help us come up with some hypothetical setups. also if you come across a company you see with super cheap products, run it by us first. There are companies called China companies that buy products wholesale from cheap vendors and sell it purely for profit, without a care about the scene or supporting fingerboarders. companies like these are nollie wheels, 4 corner fingerboards, and star fb. they are really frowned upon here because they take away from the people who support fingerboarding.
and from that description of what you want in a deck, blosom would be perfect. they make relatively cheap and super stable decks. |

| That really sucks that people do that. I read some where when using google looking for fingerboard stuff that people do that and its sad. People really should care about the community and if they sell stuff they need to not just do it totally for profit.
What is the size of a standard tech deck?
An idea thats probably already thrown out there is to have the index finger length and the middle finger length of people and have an "ideal" "normally preferred" size for that finger length. Of course it won't be perfect since everyone is different but maybe a general guide to go by.
Say you have a 3 inch index and a 3 1/2 inch index then a say 30mm would be recommended to start with.
Just an idea.
What would be a rough dollar amount to get a used complete on here with bearing wheels? |

| techdecks are 26mm x 96 mm. very small if you want to be able to really control the deck and perform well. id say unless you really want a wide deck the best place to start is 29-30 mm. i like 31-32 personally because i feel like the extra board surface helps with style. and as for a used setup, it really depends what condition its in and what the products are. it could really vary. the buy/sell/trade forum is a good place to check but people rarely sell whole setups.
there are also a lot of very good deck companies from FBHQ members as well that are all cheap in price. they are not pro level but they are still amazing products. Temple is owned by Ryanmarshment, Banlyst is starting up Lovedrug decks, and Forgiven also makes some sweet looking products. giving one of those a try as a first board could be a good idea because it cuts down on your setup price without buying from a china company. if youre not set on a 100% professional german-grade setup, give one of these a whirl. |

| What about creek wood? Any good?
Are their trucks any good? I mean they're cheap in price but not too bad I'm sure.
It looks like a bearing wheel set would be the most expensive. |

| creekwood mellow mold decks are amaaaaaaaazing too. very solid and only twenty bucks. a lot of big fbers name creekwood as their fav. their trucks are the same as flatface dump trucks but 1 dollar cheaper. yeah i only tried a creekwood once at a meetup so i couldnt really give a whole opinion on it but a lot of people will tell you they are sick. yeah bearing wheels will probably be the most expensive thing. since you are saving on the deck, im gonna recommend oak wheels soooo good. work outdoors too. |

| Do the oak wheels work with the creek wood trucks?
Also is flat face the best place to purchase the wheels since directly from oak wheels is UK and I'm in the USA? |

| oak wheels work on everything. they come with washers so you can protect the bearings. flatface is currently sold out of oak wheels, but i bought them from their own website just to support them directly. they are based in Portugal. also their website has special colours and models you cant get on flatface. |

| On flat face the Oak wheels say this: Note: Oak Wheels are specially designed to work with blackriver and y-trucks and are not compatible with basic techdeck, bollie, or dump trucks.
Thats why I was asking.
The flatface G6 wheels say their compatible with techdeck and close up G2 trucks so I bet they would work with creek woods trucks.
Any opinion on the FF G6 wheels? It looks like all they really have in stock. |

| yeah just checked not sure why flatface says that. ive used oaks on dumptrucks before. maybe its outdated from the older oak wheels version.
and yes ive tried the G6a wheels. they actually feel like your board is hovering thats how smooth they are. the thing is i fingerboard outdoors and like the grip of urethane and its durability. if you dont think you are going to shred a really rough spot then g6 are an awesome model. |

I guess people are really trying to get some christmas gifts haha. This. Haha. Get a Kulture or a Holywood on Flatface. There both really great decks. Get some Riptape or FBS it's up to you because it all depends on your preference. You'd probably want a 5 or 6 ply deck because some 5 ply decks can't be that strong but 6 can. Support legit companies. |

| A cool thing you could try out is go to inexpfingerboard.com they are a french shop that has a dream setup feature that allows you to build setups of their stock and buy em. i think the cheapest possible is 30 euro for a full setup and they go up to 83 euro.
something to try out. they have good products. flaked decks, substance wheels, piratenholz (i dont think youll be going for those lol), and they make their own pretty good decks. |

| well, everyone has said a billion different options to you, so, yea, I wont really chime in with products or anything. Its great to hear someone getting back into fingerboarding! And no you're not the only 'older' guy, I'm 23 There are soo many options available, from BRR trucks + Brr ed wheels on one of the many many high quality decks out there, to bearingless wheels with china trucks and a budget deck. Just go with what you have the money for and like the look of, providing its from a legit company that supports fingerboarding |
