I have a few tips for the guy making those decks.
1. The dying process doesnt seem to be very effective. The edges seem to be a pink color, while the top is red. He should definitely look into using some sort of alcohol soluble aniline dyes. They will penetrate the wood in a day or so, and you can get a gallon of dye for about $30 per color.
2. I couldnt see it from the video, but he should be using some sort of protective layer on the mold. Polyurethane glues can destroy molds.
3. I wouldnt use a ball-end bit to countersink. I use a CNC bit on my drillpress.
Everything else looks good. Tell him to keep up the good work, in italian or something.

Hi colin 1: I use a kind of wood which is really hard to color inside. I used alchool aniline but it doesn't work, the water aniline works better
2: The mold i have is 100% 6061 aluminum alloy, the poliurethane glue doesn't destroy mold ( in boldo molds you have to protect them with a protecting layer )
3: i prefer to use it because of the visive effects and because every kind of screw fits perfectly
thanks to everyone and thanks for your constructive criticism , you couldn't know the reasons! Critics are nice, from there you learn a lot of things, i learned to do decks because of them

new stuff looks soo sick! it might just find its way onto unite tomorrow
I love the new shape too, looks really fun One thing though.. arent you supposed to cross the grain of decks rather than having all vertical or all horizontal?

Thanks kerry It is a particoular wood and a particoular shape i made lots of attempts, but crossing the venatures, the decks come out too much flexible and the pop is not so nice using this wood, is fundamental to mantain the same verse of venature, if you want to have a deck perfect in popping exc. exc.

This actually does make sense that the decks would be stronger as the Veener is way stronger vertically, however the cross grain combination in my opinion makes the veneer stay together better, and not peel apart over time. I'm not saying that they will come apart but when using the cross grain combo the glue will or should go into the cross grain and the vertical grain so that the glue in the horizontal grain will cover more of an area than just vertical. If this doesn't make sense then do this Hold your hands together vertically, palm to palm, finger on finger. Now spread your fingers apart one by one Do this horizontal too and tell me if it makes sense

As i said, i made lots of attempt with crossed venatures ( vertical - horizontal - vertical - horizontal - vertical ) but decks were not strong

What thickness of veneer do you use? Or the kinds?
