| I'm going to keep this short over why I'm annoyed.
1. You've screwed over your, quoted, "resident graphic designer", not once, but twice now. Unite 2.0 was barely understandable, you couldn't create the Unite button so you consulted me. What I thought was just a small update was an entire redesign. On this occasion you've ruined your own branding by doing it yourself. The logos make no sense, and the tone of colours is completely wrong to what I assume you're trying to achieve.
2. This, "I cant say much now other than it means pretty big things for UK fingerboarding as well as myself", and this, "The unitefingerboarding family is:". I'm sorry to say, but an observant view would be that Unite is a selfish venture. From the first quote, it appears you gather yourself as some sort of leader of the British scene. There should be no leaders. Same as what I would say is the definition of a family: A group of people working together for the benefit of each other. The idea of a family from what I see in the Unite sense, seems to be: A group of websites working together to compliment the owner. While I'm not saying what you're doing with the websites is a bad thing, I believe you should have others help you. People have asked to contribute, and you have said no, which is why I can't believe you have the cheek to call it a family.
3. You are not a web designer. The colour of the buttons, other than being wrong to what you maybe want to achieve, are way too distracting for their purpose.
Please note everyone, I am not saying that what Kerry is doing is bad. My post can be marked constructive criticism. Other than screwing me over, which I have took personally in the past, but kept it quiet, the comments I have made are the type of thing I get, and will get, in my job on nearly a daily basis. |

| Firstly I appreciate you finally putting some light on something I've wondered for the better part of two years. Honestly, and this makes me feel really bad saying it as I feel I've kind of failed as being an observant human being, I had no idea at all about point 1. If I recall (perhaps I'm mistaken) you were getting bombared with people acting like you were running unite and you weren't too happy about that (I mean back in the 1.0 days) - which is when I decided to do my own graphics. And yes, honestly part of that was me being annoyed, because those almost 8.5 thousand posts weren't written by anyone else. Seriously though, I'm proper sorry you feel betrayed. I guess I never really told you I was going to go my own thing, simply did it. That was pretty lame of me Point two has NOTHING to do with the redesign (if you're implying that) and actually DOES mean some pretty rad things in terms of big steps for Uk fingerboarding. BUT.. only like 3 people other than me know what it is, so I'm not sure how you can comment on that. However I will agree the term family is used loosely and I do agree in the most part with what you say. However, I don't really want help with unite and fingersized, because fingersized would involve money being spread so thin it'd be silly, and unite, well.. I love writing (am also well aware I'm not very good at it). Here people help, with events people help, and yea.. I DO HOWEVER realise that I am a selfish person. Like, genuinely, I know that. Sometimes it bugs the shit out of me and I cant sleep. I try to do good otherwise - but I guess what I've come to acheive has benefited me greatly. I'd like to think I'm maybe partly deserving of it, but I don't think entirely so I understand your viewpoint. point three.. INDEED. I'm a code monkey who's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Seriously. BUT.. I like trying things. It's been fun to learn bits of graphic design and video editing through what I've done with unite and fingersized, and I like the current look. In my books it's a step up from 2.0, and many agree. I however fully appreciate that you're doing this professionally and I can understand (or at least imagine) that seeing bad stuff must be kind of like seeing people refer to fingerboards as simply pointless childrens toys - or something to that effect. My intention is far from to annoy you. I'm really sorry man. But I just try to wake up every day and put 100% of myself into something I love doing, the unite sites are the outcome. I do not gather myself a leader in any sense of the Uk scene, simply someone doing something they love doing and lucky enough to have made it into a very low income that just scrapes me by. Honestly I think there are much more heinous things in the scene, and in the world. I hope one day we can be cool again, I really do. But as we're on the topic of coming clean, I'll say something. You know how much YOU make me feel like the worst pile of shit in the universe every time you say something to me? I get that you're annoyed but did you have to spend the last two years being as harsh as you've been? Sometimes it's subtle and sometimes you're blunt, but I've gotten soo much negativity from you and I feel it's really crossed the line, past what would be consdiered an equal ground as I've done negative things to you too. Maybe you never intended to come across like that, but you did, to me at least. As I said, I hope one day we can be friendly and positive again. I don't ask you to overlook anything negative I do, simply accept that this is what I am doing, and that I never meant to do anything negative to you |

Kerry. Actually, Harvey also owns it. He's the one who created FBHQ. It is also a part of the unitefingerboaring family. |

| Too many Cooks spoil the broth so to speak... If Kerry owns this forum then he is in his own rights able to advertise and basically do what he wants.. Might not be great to pigeonhole himself as it has clearly marked him has been selfish admittedly, which isn't a good thing especially if what he does is simply for the love of things, but at the end of the day he has a website so he is clearly making money from it so hence why I believe he 'plugs' his websites more than others...
For any scene to grow it has to be allowed to grow and nobody who is influential in the scene should be selfish or their own respect and fortune... The only way any scene grows is with word of mouth, love for the sport, investment and so on. This generally means opening the proverbial wings and allowing newcomers in in every angle, looking for new 'managers' etc... There is no way Kerry can keep up what he does so that been the case a stalemate will come into action and the scene will not flourish, but die off.
If its for the love of the scene... Keep it that way, and don't be so selfish in any manner. |
