You strike a very good point, but for some people just starting out, (let's say Jay W,m for example) He makes wheels. He buys bearings for, I think like 1-2 dollars a bearing, he bought an 800 dollar lathe, and he also has to pay for certain wheels materials, so right now if he wants to make money, he has to sell them at at least 30 dollars a set to make a decent profit and if he ever wants to get out of the hole he's in. Sometimes people are forced to sell at high rates to make a profit. But for the big guys that have it all figured out, (No Comply, BRR, Winkler, Flatface, Yellowood) yeah, they don't need to be charging 50 bucks a pop for anything... ESPECIALLY THOSE DAMN BRTs... I've had a set and the axles are shit... and so are the baseplates.
My essay. Definitely right! Starting out is always the hardest regardless of what you are producing. Because not only do you have to spend money on machines, molds etc you also have to spend a huge amount of time doing research and perfecting your craft, no one ever makes great decks with their first mold or perfect wheels the first time they machine. But once you have it figured out it is considerable to lower prices, that is of course after all your expenses have been payed off. - blosom wrote:
what you have to understand is that everyone has a different economy....it is far more expensive to produce things in Europe than it is in America.
and then stupidly expensive in the UK.....i sell my deck at 20 UK pounds because alot of 'known' brands are around that price.
in all honesty, in shooting myself in the foot really...because i am selling them 'cheaply' for regards to labor/time costs, but because the economy is cheaper in America, Americans think things in Europe are expensive, when in reality they are sold at the lowest possible price without taking a huge loss....
its a vicious circle, and why their are farrr more deck companies in the states and not many in Europe. Great points, and yes vicous cycle indeed because when we purchase items from Europe, especially items in bulk the EURO/USD ratio really bites us in the ass. In other news:I've reached out to Nollie, hopefully I will have some of there stuff within a month's time. Anyone like Fapwoods AKA BlackDiamonds!? because they are coming very soon to SD. Stay tuned, these decks will blow your mind. |

You should make dual bearing wheels too! For sure will have dual bearings! Maybe make some S2 limited ED with dual bearings. Here is a sneak peak of the stock going up tomorrow - 8/01/2012 Picture credits go to Taylor Lucas! All pre-orders, please send me a PM.

I don't think there are any 32mm's, only 30mm. Even though my favorite deck is a 33mm, I would trade it any day for a Black Diamond. I just set one up and it easily out performs my 33mm Samurai. Especially when doing nollie tre's Check it out: |

I thought they closed.. Wanted there wheels so bad. Wheels? Hahah I wish! but I'm pretty sure another company might of had a series/generation of wheels called Black Diamonds. These decks are Fapwood's under their original name. Same mold, same producer. |

And wow just noticed you sold samurais... How did you get em O.0 Black Diamond doesn't have a website, I think Taylor had a Fapwood website before, I'm not sure though. And Samurai was my Sow Distributions first ever partner, I just order them directly from the maker |
