Finally got my 3 close up g4s today having only tried the g5s... ( 3 for 9 euro posted)

First off i cut one in half with a band saw because it looked like a blind mane drilled the holes in it

One of the other decks plies where very very messy with small chunks missing around the edges

rant over.... don't wast your money on the gen 4s there proper shit!..

BUT and this is a big BUT the G5s in comparison are amazing

perfect holes perfect clear coat... they must use a different supplier because the craftsmanship is literally 100000% better in comparison to gen 4 's

Well, with regards to the G4s, I'll admit I had 1 with 1 hole that was off but that was no biggie. Those G4s were discounted so I don't really see any reason to complain about some slight imperfections. I mean 3 5-ply wooden real wear graphic decks with licensed skateboard graphics, each with a sheet of printed griptape and foamtape for 9 Euros?

I don't think you could really complain about heavily discounted decks but from personal experience, Close Up have the best customer service I have encountered. This was from before I was even sponsored by them.

· I asked for a discontinued G2 truck for my G2, they gave me a set for free with all the bushings, washers and screws.

· They sent the wrong colour deck - They gave me a whole new complete with the correct deck for free. With extras.

· They gave me a free G3 deck as a gift in an order.

· I've got a bunch of French skateboard stickers for free.

· I emailed them a while before the G2s were released and they agreed to sell me one early.

Honestly, if you really want to, shoot Damien an email with your issues - gcloseup@gmail.com - and I'm sure he'll get back to you. He's sometimes fast and sometimes slow at responding. You have to imagine he is really busy responding to a lot of emails by himself as he is now the sole owner of Close Up.

Hell no i love close up my g5 is still my favourite feeling deck.. just saying wate and spend that little extra for the G5 and you wont be disappointed

its crazy the quality difference between the two generations

Hah, I love my G5s too. Still waiting on graphic versions and would love one of those engraved ones. My G4s gave me some good memories though - e.g. first time I entered a physical competition (as opposed to online ones).

When Close Up first started weren't they like one if the worst brands? I know they're good now, but just wondering.

Nah.. They were pretty hyped because they made completes. Pretty sure Euan Lynn was the one that introduced them on FFI. I bought a G1 when he showed them to me.

I bought a G2 at some point too, it was pretty decent. But compared to the standards of fingerboarding today, i'd say Close Up is a little behind..

G5s will change your mind about that mikkel... they are very nice indeed

I think I still may buy a skate graphic off Closeup. I use to look at them for days...

thats what i got... there not so good... if any get the g5 engraved

My g1 snapped after using it for couple weeks.
But g5's looks really nice.
