PostSubject: Ollie consistency problems   Ollie consistency problems EmptySat Jul 02, 2011 1:16 am

I can ollie just fine most of the time depending on the angle of my hand,
but let's say 4 out of 10 tries the board turns or maybe flips, sometimes this happens 9 times out of 10.

I can kickflip pretty well and tre flip etc... But consistent ollies are what I need to get better..

So has anyone any tips or preventative measures to stop my ollie from flipping or turning? Or just better in general very happy afro

This is probably happening because your fingers are getting ahead of your board- try to make sure you're not trying to ollie super high, only ollie has high as you can. If you try to ollie higher than you can, the board falls away and if your finger slightly tips it, it will cause it to flip. I'd work on ollies low and as you get consistent, work up to higher ollies, if that makes sense lol. That worked for me- hope it helped happy

Let your fingers guide the deck, arc your hand through the Ollie if that makes sense?

I can tre but I don't always get it back over perfectly, I've got a pretty decent kickflip though I can't get into grinds very often, ollie is the one that is causing me the most problems.
I'm only trying to fb for the last while although I've had tech decks forever.

I reverted to within tutorials to see if I'm
Missin anything the Gary chin thing about ollieing up onto something like a cd case is doing wonders so far lol

Ollies were one of the harder tricks when I first started. If you can do them sometimes, just get a good pop and focus on leveling out your fingers over the board, preferably over the screws.

Once you get them on lock, you won't loose them, just like riding a bike!
Then you can style them out to look pretty sweet....for such a humble trick lol

I know most of people don't like that style of doing, but, roll your board back. It should help.
Watch FingerSkateSelectives video on YouTube and he'll show you what to do. happy

i seem to be having the same problem but rolling your board back seems to be working very well until you get used to the snap. then, all you have to worry about is moving forward in the air to your desired spot. in skateboarding, the faster you go, the higher/farther you go. i think its the opposite with fingerboarding. i find a slower approach gives me a little bit more control on the height i want. when people tell you to roll back, they are not talking about rolling back far away from your desired spot, it should be one fluid motion. just maybe an inch to 2 inches should be more then enuff. once you get your kick/snap fuckin vicious not moving, you will learn to gauge your speed with your height and it will be like 2nd nature.
just my 2 cents.

my biggest problem is i feel im pushing down way to hard before the pop, i gotta work on that i guess, but i dont know how much pressure is to much yet.

Back then, I had trouble trying to make it flip, so I don't have much advice except patience and perseverance. Do it 100 times, if you can't, do another.

Hey, I'm having the same problem.

I started learning to kickflip by using the rollback method and I've got it to the point where I can kickflip most of the time by only rolling back the slightest amount. My question is more about technique. Is this rollback method for ollies and kickflips an acceptable way to do the tricks or is it more of a way to learn so you will be able to do them rolling forwards?

I never had the problem with my ollies flipping until I started doing these rollback kickflips, but now it happens %20 of the time. I suspect it's because I'm launching the board toward my front finger a bit and not smacking it back down.

What about this rollback technique? Is it a good method or should I try to stop doing it?
