Anyone else here like to hit the hills?

I've got a Sector 9 Pathfinder with Gullwings and 65mm Sector 9 wheels (78a) and Bones Reds

My main ride is an Earthwing Supermodel with Paris 180s, Orangatang Stimulus (83a) and Bones Reds

Film with, got some 1 inch riser pads and the biggest wheels I have ever seen easily over 70 anyway lol..

Longboarding is great fun though

I don't own a longboard myself but have often had goes on people who bring them to the skateparks I skated at.

I learned to do multiple cross steps and even old school kickflips (classic flips) on them.

Since I'm now in China, I have low hopes for skating another longboard any time soon.

I can't cross-step worth shit... Last time I tried I took a major bail.

I'm more into sliding then anything but it's really hard doing a powerslide on a 8lb 40" board... LOL

Really depends on where you are in China to be honest.

I have used friends longboards and seriously considering buying one since my skateboard got compleatly waterlogged last week.

They are way better for pushing around and commuting but they are a lot more expensive.

I would say they're great for commuting except for the difficulty of doing ollies. On longboards, traversing curbs might be a problem; even the manual-nose manual thing would be difficult on a longboard.

I love cruisers though. I already have pretty decent manuals on a skateboard (can probably hold one for over a minute) but they are so much more comfortable on cruisers.

Depends on the deck to be honest with you... Every single longboard deck is different from the last... some have tails, some don't. Earthwing makes a giant 38 inch street deck... It's a matter of picking on that you like.

My next longboard is an Earthwing Miniglider... It's a 33" hybrid with a fat tail and is definitely ollieable... I plan to use it as my main commuter because it's still small enough to strap to a backpack.

To all the haters who were like "It's not good for getting around because you can't ollie onto curbs, etc" I present to you my new main setup for next year for getting around...

With a really pronounced tail for popping ollies and a shorter more skateboard like length I am going to be experiencing the best of both worlds for next years shred... I've got mine set up with Indy 169s, Abec 9 Earthwing Bearings and some 63 mm Earthwing Road Rage wheels (84a black). I can't wait to use this as I will probably be doing ollies and kickflips with it all the time... As well as it's small enough to strap on my backpack and easier to carry around than my 40" SuperModel even though the SuperModel is a fucking beastly ride. (Pictured below)

And just for giggles this is a picture of me when I bought my very first longboard a year or so ago... Sucktor 9 Cosmic Pathfinder... If any of you are even considering longboarding please stay as far away from Sector 9 as possible... Their decks are alright but their trucks, wheels and bearings are all a crock of shit... You'd be better investing your money in a better set-up ESPECIALLY if you are planning on going on any sort of hills or doing any sharp turns (the trucks and deck get speed wobbles super easy and the trucks cant make very tight turns even when they are super loose). The wheels chunk super easy as well, I don't even do slides on my sector 9 and the wheels just starting fall apart out of no where...

Word up man. I used to do that kind of stuff when I was a kid, but I never learned kickflips back then. I just find that it's a totally different experience hitting a hill with a longboard rather than a skateboard... Some of the hills I hit on a regular basis I would never even attempt on a skateboard anyways, that'd just be asking to get hurt... ;P

Unfortunately though my street set-up is terrible... It's some blank deck with no name brand trucks and wheels. Longboarding is much more my style because 80% of the time that I am doing it I am trying to get somewhere. It's way more efficient for travel than skateboarding and I find the because the motion is so much more fluid I have a lot more fun doing it. Plus my longboards are like 900x better than my skateboard (even my shitty Sucktor 9)

This next year I'm probably going to focus on longboarding entirely and not even bother skateboarding ( I know) I need to get my stand up slides down clean and really want to learn how to cross-step... That being said I will be learning how to do kickflips on my new set-up.

cheap setup but good for downhill, pretty decent for sliding, gonna get a new deck when summer rolls around again.

I've never liked any of the Gullwing trucks personally. If you haven't tried some paris trucks or some randals I would reccomend giving them a try.

The sector 9 decks aren't really that bad but for their price you could get far better gear like stuff from Earthwing (or other small companies like Comet) that is made with 100% pure love.

I really want to try longboarding after I saw people in Madrid doing it. Bombing hills in the Puerta De Marillo

That was the first setup i got next summer im planning on getting Paris Trucks and the Flying Spaghetti monster deck, then some of the purple orangatang wheels. gonna be getting into sliding a lot.
