The wood is as easy as cutting out a few pieces of veneer. To make a skateboard usually home made molds are made out of concrete, which takes a ton of time to make, plus it's huge. To press it you need some huge ass clamps that are rather $$$. Also, it takes about 1/30 the amount of veneer for a fingerboard. I've tried making both, and my first attempt at a skateboard was awful, whereas my first fingerboard was decent (wasn't perfect, but it was one of the more fun decks I've ridden) And yes, I've made a "legitimate" deck myself. I'm not trying to start a huge fuss, I'm just a little pissed about how overpriced most of this stuff is.
LMAO. Dude you are so ignorant. The deck you made was most likely crap. If its so easy, why would you buy other decks? Skateboard companies don't have homemade molds LMFAO. |

| You can't even name the proper equipment used to make a skateboard. Duh it's going to cost money to cnc a mold, buy a hydraulic press, veneer, and glue. After than you're set. You got high power sanders to shape the deck and rough out imperfections. Where as a fingerboard, You gotta to all that by hand so you don't ruin the deck. You can't take a huge buffer to a deck. And yeah you can start off with a bondo mold, but deck companies move away from that to higher quality resin and metal molds. I hate when people say making decks is something simple. It takes lots of practice to make a great deck, and even once you do, you still learn better more efficient ways to make them. |

| I was talking about if someone were to go out and make a deck on their own. I buy other decks because I like different shapes, and I think there are certain brands who do it for their love for fingerboarding. I can post a picture of a deck I've made if you really want to see it. |

When did I misname the equipment? Most people don't have power sanders just hanging around either. |

| You are clueless ha. Obviously if anyone can make a deck... And most brands do it for the love of fingerboarding. They also make a living out it. Saying "why buy a 45 dollar fingerboard deck when you can buy a 35 dollars skateboard deck" is extremely stupid. |

| Skateboard companies make decks with machine.
Fingerboard companies make decks with hand, which takes more time? |

| Solution example:
Thinking overpriced -> Decides not to buy from brand and sticks with cheaper options Result:
Cash saved and peace of mind gained.. This was originaly about Harriers. Im asking myself this; Why does everyone need a Harrier so badly (?). If one is on a budget there is really no need to go and get a Harrier. Just be creative, its fun! If all one can think about is that Harriers are like the finest jewlery known to man. That one will have a bad fingerboarding experience if one does not own a Harrier, or several Harriers for that matter. That one simply has to own one to be amongst the cool kids that all got Harriers because they are (Cartman voice start) cuuul (Cartman voice end) -> pay up sucker.. I like my fingerboard obtacles rough and more realistic, but thats just me. You wont see me skateboarding on porcelain like things in the street any time soon. Just take a look at my signature banner picture. The riding surface is artificial miniature asphalt made with a sand and wood glue mixture....rough, realistic and super fun and basicly free!

I think you keep forgetting the part where skateboards are mostly CNC made now dude. Few people CNC their fingerboards. |

| Fingerboarding wasnt an expensive hobby. BRR made it a expensive hobby. Whether its for the good or for the bad is left up for debate and i really dont care to have that. Point is, the hobby was never expensive in the beginning and the 3-4 or 5 years following.

| Fingerboarding isn't expensive. You can get a tech deck and some cardboard and have a great time, using only $2. Everybody on here is acting like fbing is impossible without bearings, and a perfectly crafted deck. It's just as cheap as it was before.I just made a sick cardboard quarter today.
Everybody is blaming brr, but you don't have to buy from them. If you want something really highquality, Brr is there though. But brr stuff isn't really necessary or crazily overpriced to me, it's usually about 30$ for a perfectly made wood obstacle.
Also YES it is harder to make something at a tiny scale, as a mm matters a huge amount on a fb, and not on a skateboard. And if your only looking at materials, they have to work hard to make it, duh. If you look at materials, skateboards are also hugely overpriced. |

Bakko does that mean if you bail a trick and 'fall' onto your knuckles, you graze them? lol..im not into that "bailing" and "falling" thing. If you really really want do damage your fingers I bet you can do it with a little effort scraping them along the surface, I just dont see the point in that. But the surface isnt that rough per say, it just looks and feels like scaled down tarmac. The stuff is awesome! Ive used the same technique for scale dioramas and model railroading projects in the past you see.. But this is off topic, and this is where the thread left of.. - thomashines wrote:

Then get a 24EUR Berlinwood Elias signature deck and put on a set of random cheap wides with FF team bushings, wheel washers, and source decent wheels. Then you have a really good setup that will last you a long time and bring good times on a low budget! Every setup doesnt have to look like this: BW Wide Low, BRT Wides, TKYs, Winklers/FF BRTedt./Oaks |

| Everyone isnt blaming BRR. Just me.
You're 15, thats good. No offense though, i dont believe you were around to see the sudden increase of prices. Brr and Bw were expensive/overpriced. No one is going to argue quality. Thats the not issue here. Its price. When good decks were at most 8-10 bucks.. 30-40 is a lot for a deck. 7 bucks for a complete, 130 bucks is expensive.
Youre right. I do not have to buy from Brr. I dont. However i am only one man while thousands others welcome higher prices. The more people are willing to pay for insane prices under the guise of "support"... companies will abuse this, tell you "time went into it" when at the end of the day the fact reminds. Out of the goodness of your heart, you pay whatever price. Where is the goodness of their hearts to not price these items so high?
@Bakko- Setups dont have to be like that? Totally would fool me if looking in setups!
