The Hatelys got me into this recently, and after buying a starter deck, not being that content with it, building my own deck, and going from there, today I went to my first tournament at Forbidden Planet. Having never played against anyone except Chris + Kat before, and only having played 2-3 games in my life, I didn't know how well I'd do but did surprisingly well considering. Won two matches 2:0, lost two 0:2, and lost one 1:2 - although due to stupid mistakes of me missing things due to being new, haha.. Honestly soo much fun, I forgot how much fun TGC crowds/events are. Anyone else play?

Ah, missing triggers never changes. Always happens. Same with play errors, you just get better at making up for them REALLY stoked you enjoyed it man. When you get to make it up here, make sure you're here for a Tuesday and we'll get you along to our MTG group (we occasionally get ex-Pro Tour players who are REALLY good at helping you along). As for TCGs, for the benefit of people who aren't Kerry, I started out on Pokémon, then got into MTG because I wanted to play a TCG competitively. Haven't looked back since. Magic's a great game, not too expensive to play causally, and a lot of fun to play at high competition level, especially since the game constantly changes with sets rotating out. I tend to play control decks, or balls to the wall aggro. Tragically neither is a very good strategy at the moment because of the way the sets have panned out

A real one? They're like £1500. A guy who used to go to my MTG group used to use his like PacMan to make people freak out and quit games at Pro Tours. |

lol I'm just messing around. I don't even own a single magic card. I know a bit about the game though, because my good friend Noah plays it. I'd like to get into it but I just don't have the time. I can see why people play it, though.

black lotus is like yugiohs god cards - old but pointless, not legal for current play, and useless. except this is worth a few thousand pounds XD I also played yugioh back in the day if anyone wants a skype or google+ game of magic I'm up for it

^it's legal in Vintage format. But for that you basically need to drop £2000 on 9 cards, then play in a TCG equivalent of incest. It's a messed up format.

Black=Common Silver=Uncommon Gold=Rare Red=Mythic Rare Pauper is a LOT of fun. Really levels the playing field as well, cos almost all the cards are dirt cheap and easy to get a hold of. |

Any of the Gatecrash intro decks mate. Green and red tend to be aggressive, blue and black are controlling and white is a combination. I'd avoid the blue black intro though, it's not great.

i konw how to play it, because in my class there are about 7 that play it, but i don´t own any cards and tom if you want something better than an intro deck get an event deck, probably harder to get used to, if you play it the first time, but better than the intro decks

^the gatecrash intro decks are actually really good. I had the red green one and it's sick, but any of them except blue black as chris said are well worth picking up. Deck + 2 boosters for £12, it's a bargain. I'll pester you later about a pauper deck chris
