Haven't seen this method before, just sharing the wisdom!

Preface:
So, someone sent me blackriver trucks without the locknuts. They are brand new WIDE bright whites. I didn't want to spend $14 on the blackriver locknuts, but didn't want to use regular locknuts and glue on the perfect condition trucks. So I came up with my own solution.
Now, I have not tested this with wheels yet (someone sent me wheels in an envelope and they ripped out of the package and are long gone *face palm*) but I could not easily turn the locknuts with my finger, so I am assuming this will work just fine.

What you need:
-locknuts (duh)
-foam grip or scraps of foam grip (you hardly need any)
-tool

Steps:

1.) Make sure the wheels are not on the trucks. I recommend having the trucks already attached to a deck to make handling them easier.

2.) Put the locknut in your tool, then press the open end of the tool against the sticky side of your grip. (You can remove the sticky stuff off the grip if you want, but it can make the next steps a bit easier and probably helps the nuts stay better.)

3.) Screw the nut onto your trucks through the foam grip. It is pretty easy to tell whether or not the axle pushed through the grip and actually threaded into the locknut or not.

4.) As you screw on the nut, the excess grip should break away around the tool on it's own, but you will still have to peel some of it off. So, peel and excess/unwanted grip away.

5.) Pull the tool away and see if the locknut successfully screwed onto the axle and collected the foam grip inside it.

** If done correctly, there should be remnants of foam grip inside the locknut. It should stay in there even when you unscrew it. You may have to try again until you actually get the foam to screw into the inside of the locknut. I used pretty thick grip, and it still worked fine. **

6.) Unscrew the locknut, you will see that some of the foam grip is left on the axle as well. This is good. NOW you can put on your wheels, then re-screw your locknut on. and Wah-La!

The grip remnants should remain on the axle and inside your locknuts. AGAIN, I have not tried this with a pair of wheels yet. They should go on fine, and then you have a autolocking locknut. The foam grip remnants can easily be wiped off the axle later if you so need. Hope this comes in handy!

edit: also we tried to do this on brt striped baseplates but it didnt work :/

I think he meant regular nuts haha

Awesome I'll have to try this. Threadlocker has always worked very well for me.

I tried this for axle nuts about 2 weeks ago (instead of super glue) and it works great.  Wheels haven't come off yet, and u only need to use the corners of a sheet of grip.  Plus its not as risky as using glue.

So where are the pictures?

like Mallory said just use a little tiny peace of Teflon tape.

or use thread lock, it comes in a lil tube, i put such a baby bit on any bolt that gets loose, let it sink into the threads, and bam, it never comes loose, you can find it at home depot or where ever that sells hardware.
this way you dont dammage your trucks kingpins, or bushings, bearings or what ever, and you can still move the bolts as you please
(sometimes if you tighten/untighten the bolt it comes loose, in that case you can just re apply)
