i believe they bought the old berlinwood molds through the carpenter of berlinwood or something. there used to be a pretty big explanation of it in pdf format, or was it another company?

i find you can get ytrucks tighter than brts if you put on harder bushings, but stock brts are pretty tight unless you want no turning at all

I'd say Ytrucks because of the inverted kingpin, if you tighten BRT's that much the screw will stick out way too much which is terrible imo

Alright so I'm probably going to go with Ytrucks but I have one more question. Can you use just about any wheel with them? I've been trying to look at reviews but I haven't seen anyone mention wheel compatibility. I'd hate to drop $40+ on a set of wheels and not be able to use them.

You can use any wheels with Ytrucks, whereas only BRT edition wheels fit on BRTs.

To the best of my knowledge al wheels will work fine (they have for me) but some fit nice and snug and some are loose.... it doesn't bother me either way.... My Oak duals fit really good and snug... and obviously my Ywheels fit on there perfect!

Yeah, dual bearing wheels work best on Y's, but if there's room you can always use washers or pivot cups.

I use FF brt edition with Ytrucks. Imo they perform fine, but I dunno how would they perform on BRTs. I had some problems with Planktoon Rool Singlebearing wheels (I had to use pivot cups, though), but I've misread their description on Planktoon website and didn't know they "don't work" with YT.

Another wheel question, one of my Oak wheels won't come off of my BRTs. I tried the two tool technique, but no luck. Any other suggestions?

Good choice. Nothing against BRTs, but they strip way too easily....and replacement baseplates are overpriced. IMO you get a better bang for you buck with YTrucks because they're of similar quality (without the constant stripping) and are about 25 bucks cheaper. Even their replacement baseplates are half the price. |
