| use a TD be like all the old fingerboarders in the early 2000's Your mum sounds horrible though. You can't really quit because your mum broke your stuff if you have a passion for fingerboarding why not continue? |

| If your house and Mum are fingerboard prohibited do it some where else like outside your house.
Sorry to hear that.

| I love the violent talk towards mothers, haha.
Honestly, parent's do stupid things from time to time, they're what we call... Human?
anyway if you still love finger boarding and not really wanting to quit, ask her why did she snap your board and talk to her about it maturely without name calling or attitude then explain how much that board meant to you..
I know the sound of my fingerboards used to drive my mother up the wall, she didn't go as far as breaking them, but she did hide them on me a few times.. So we compromised, i fingerboard when she's at work and she wont touch them again.. then later on i spent some money and sound proofed my door and she didn't mind that.. |

Exactly like me ! My mum doesn't really like it, she doesn't break my stuff because she's never there when I do fingerboard so it doesn't really effect her. My dad is less so but I still tend to try not to fingerboard near him. I mean it can be quite annoying, my dad helps me make ramps occasionaly and stuff, so he doesn't mind as much but yeah like Dillion said, try and come to a compromise with her. |

| man this will never get resolved if you don't help her to understand it. i mean if you can. here's a story maybe to inspire you: My uncle use to be so bad with not understanding the whole fingerboarding thing that every week i was finding obstacles missing decks thrown away etc. at the time i didnt have paypal, so i was using his credit card. and no lie like a week or 2 would go by and i would leave a deck on the bureau in the upstairs hall or on the mantle in the living room. it finally came to a head when he broke a deck i had just got the day before and it had my first set of brt's was attached to. dude i lost it not realizing it wasn't really his fault i blew up and we got into a real bad fight, so i spent sometime out with friends to calm down, i didnt really say anything to him nor did he say anything to me either. later that night i asked him if i could show him some stuff. and we just went through sites like flatface and blackriver then countless videos on youtube. the following day we sat down online and ordered a bunch of stuff to start making up for what he threw out. we found out it was him not understanding what it meant to me or that it was something with an actual purpose to it. he thought i was a 18yr old (att) that was clinging to kids toys. he is one of biggest advocates now and once he realized how much some of this stuff cost... well lets say he is real cautious when he's walks in areas where i fingerboard now.

here's a story maybe to inspire you:
My uncle use to be so bad with not understanding the whole fingerboarding thing that every week i was finding obstacles missing decks thrown away etc. at the time i didnt have paypal, so i was using his credit card. and no lie like a week or 2 would go by and i would leave a deck on the bureau in the upstairs hall or on the mantle in the living room. it finally came to a head when he broke a deck i had just got the day before and it had my first set of brt's was attached to. dude i lost it not realizing it wasn't really his fault i blew up and we got into a real bad fight, so i spent sometime out with friends to calm down, i didnt really say anything to him nor did he say anything to me either. later that night i asked him if i could show him some stuff. and we just went through sites like flatface and blackriver then countless videos on youtube. the following day we sat down online and ordered a bunch of stuff to start making up for what he threw out. we found out it was him not understanding what it meant to me or that it was something with an actual purpose to it. he thought i was a 18yr old (att) that was clinging to kids toys.
he is one of biggest advocates now and once he realized how much some of this stuff cost... well lets say he is real cautious when he's walks in areas where i fingerboard now. Sounds pretty deep. Anyway, my suggestion is to just get a TD. £3-5 and they're the boards I've used the most. I can do any fingerboard trick I have the ability to do on a TD as on any other fingerboard. |
